Iran’s armed forces have threatened further action against Israel following strikes in Lebanon on Monday. The warning came from the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had instructed Israel’s military, together with Defence Minister Israel Katz, to strike targets in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district in response to what he described as repeated Hezbollah ceasefire violations and attacks on Israeli cities and citizens. Ahead of the threatened strikes, the Israeli military also issued an evacuation warning for residents in parts of Beirut. In response, Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of the headquarters, warned residents of northern Israel and military settlements in the occupied territories to leave the area if the threatened strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs were carried out. In a statement reported by Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, he said the warning was issued because of what he described as repeated Israeli violations of ceasefire agreements.
