Iran issues horror threat to attack Israel as Trump’s ceasefire collapsing | World | News

Iran’s armed forces have threatened further action against Israel following strikes in Lebanon on Monday. The warning came from the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had instructed Israel’s military, together with Defence Minister Israel Katz, to strike targets in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district in response to what he described as repeated Hezbollah ceasefire violations and attacks on Israeli cities and citizens. Ahead of the threatened strikes, the Israeli military also issued an evacuation warning for residents in parts of Beirut. In response, Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of the headquarters, warned residents of northern Israel and military settlements in the occupied territories to leave the area if the threatened strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs were carried out. In a statement reported by Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, he said the warning was issued because of what he described as repeated Israeli violations of ceasefire agreements. The statement comes as Israel continues its strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon, amid tensions over ceasefire efforts that Iran has said should also include its …

U.S. Southern Command announced the strike with its usual language that the vessel was “engaged in narco-trafficking operations” and operated by a designated terrorist organization. It provided no evidence for the allegation. It’s the latest in a monthslong campaign against alleged drug boats traversing the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific. Video released by the military on social media shows a small vessel floating in the ocean before it’s hit and engulfed in a fireball. Germany pushes back on US attack over streaming law – POLITICO

Speaking to reporters in Berlin, government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius dismissed Greer’s warning that if implemented the proposal “would be at odds with the Turnberry Agreement.” Germany remains committed to “very close and constructive trade relations” with the U.S., Kornelius said. He also maintained the proposed obligations fall squarely within accepted cultural policy rules. “It is agreed that no unjustified digital trade barriers will be erected. And we are adhering to that,” the spokesperson said, adding that the investment obligations “do not constitute market access barriers” and that the funds would flow directly into productions that streamers themselves can exploit commercially. “This is therefore not a levy or a tax.” Kornelius also pointed to existing precedents, describing Germany’s proposal as “very moderate by European standards.” France already requires major streamers to invest at least 20 percent of local revenue into French and European productions, while Italy set its quota at 16 percent in 2024. Both operate under the EU’s Audiovisual Media Services Directive, which allows member countries to require platforms to financially support European works, and …

Austrian sentenced to 15 years for planning attack on Taylor Swift concert – POLITICO

Co-defendant Arda K. from Slovakia, was sentenced to 12 years in prison. While he was not involved in planning the attack on the Taylor Swift concert, prosecutors said he and Beran A. discussed further attacks in other cities. The jury also found the defendants guilty of having encouraged a former friend, Hasan E., to carry out a knife attack in Mecca in 2024, a charge both denied. Hasan E. stabbed five people in Islam’s holiest city because he believed Muslims there were not practicing their faith correctly. He has since been held in custody in Saudi Arabia. Beran A. was arrested just ahead of Swift’s planned concert in Vienna on Aug. 9, 2024, after the CIA tipped off Austrian authorities. Following the arrest, the pop superstar canceled all three Vienna concerts that had been planned. Beran A.’s indictment followed in February 2026. The verdict comes just days after another major terrorism case in Austria. On Wednesday, a Syrian asylum seeker was sentenced to life imprisonment for carrying out a deadly knife attack in the southern …

Clarkson opened up about the experience on the first episode of Clarkson’s Farm season five, airing 3 June. He attributed his deterioration to the “stressful” pressure of opening his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, just weeks earlier. “I’m back and not dead,” he told farm sidekick Kaleb Cooper, adding: “The grim reaper will have to wait. It was f***ing close, though.” ‘The grim reaper will have to wait,’ Jeremy Clarkson tells Kaleb Cooper in ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ (Prime Video) However, he …

Keir Starmer Insists 'Much' Of Tony Blair's Attack On Labour Was Wrong

Keir Starmer responds to Tony Blair’s criticism of the Labour Party and the direction of government Keir Starmer has hit back at Tony Blair’s criticism of the Labour Party and suggested “much” of his analysis was incorrect. The former Labour prime minister penned a brutal essay this week accusing his own party of “playing with fire” by lacking a “coherent plan” for government two years after winning the 2024 general election by a landslide. He called for a complete policy rethink and for the party to avoid drifting further left in response. Blair also suggested removing Starmer as prime minister would not be a silver bullet to improve the UK’s fortunes. He said the UK cannot continue simply changing leaders and should instead change its approach to governing. In a pooled media clip, Starmer offered his first direct response to Blair’s surprise intervention. He said: “I agree with him that we should be having a discussion about policy and ideas, and that’s what generates politics, that’s where the focus should be, so Tony is right about …
