Meet the Tattoo Artist Behind Jeremy Allen White‘s ‘The Bear‘ Ink

Meet the Tattoo Artist Behind Jeremy Allen White‘s ‘The Bear‘ Ink

Tattoo artist Benny Shields never aspired to make his mark in Hollywood, let alone on Hollywood. The L.A. inkman has adorned the arms of numerous stars, perhaps most prominently those of The Bear‘s tatted chefs, Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) and Luca (Will Poulter). His first screen credit came via buddy Ryan Gosling for 2011’s The Place Beyond the Pines. When the actor’s self-drawn tattoo designs for his motorcycle stuntman character weren’t panning out, he called on Shields, whose brother Zach was a member of Gosling’s band Dead Man’s Bones. “When things are presented to me, I try to say yes unless I can find a good reason not to,” the 44-year-old tattooist tells THR. As for The Bear, “I had a feeling that show was going to be good.” White, as it happens, was a longtime friend for whom Shields had also done permanent ink. “They sent me the script, but a lot of who Carmy was hadn’t really been decided,” says Shields. The Bear star explains what shocked him most about The Social Reckoning true story

The Bear star explains what shocked him most about The Social Reckoning true story

When The Social Network was released back in 2010, it quickly became something of a modern classic. Aaron Sorkin’s script, David Fincher’s direction, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’s score and Jesse Eisenberg’s central performance as Mark Zuckerberg all combined to create a film that continues to be regarded as one of the defining movies of the 21st century. But the story of Zuckerberg – and Facebook – was far from over at that point. And now, more than 15 years later, Sorkin has returned to the Meta CEO for a new film that tackles the way social media has continued to evolve since. The Social Reckoning dramatises – and lightly fictionalises – the story behind The Wall Street Journal’s 2021 investigative series The Facebook Files, with The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White starring as reporter Jeff Horwitz and Oscar-winning Anora star Mikey Madison playing data engineer turned whistleblower Frances Haugen. Alicia Silverstone has officially turned 50 – although fans of her most famous movie could be forgiven for feeling completely Clueless about where the time has gone. Bear #89 (Backpack) wins Fat Bear Week 2026

A new fat bear head wears the crown. Bear #89 Backpack is officially the champion of Fat Bear Week 2026. Backpack beat Bear #910 in the final round of the bracket-style competition where bear enthusiasts from around the world can vote online for their favorite chunky bear in Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska. Bear Grylls urges police to act now for friend as legal fund tops £17K | UK | News

Celebrity wildman Bear Grylls has joined fellow adventurers in a call for police to investigate the circumstances around the disappearance from public life of legendary explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes. Concerns have been raised over Sir Ranulph’s whereabouts after the 82-year-old adventurer has not been seen publicly for over two years and has reportedly been moved between several care homes. Sir Ranulph, who climbed Mount Everest at the age of 65 and who was in the first two-man team to cross Antarctica unsupported in 1993, now has Parkinson’s disease. The Mail on Sunday reports Sir Ranulph’s step-son Alexander Millington-Cotes is having “no luck” in his efforts to persuade two police forces to investigate the care and whereabouts of his step-father. Mr Millington-Cotes has started a crowdfunded legal campaign to help with his efforts to make a “tangible difference in securing proper legal protection for Ran (Ranulph)”. Posting on his GoFundMe page, which has garnered more than £17,000 in donations, Mr Millington-Cotes writes: “To the world, Ran is a national treasure and legendary explorer. “To me, he …

It’s time to vote in one of the most consequential elections of the year, one only slightly less important than the November midterms. Of course I’m talking about Fat Bear Week, the annual event in which people elect — well, yes, the fattest bear. The candidates are bears in Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska, who are currently busy devouring as many calories as possible to fatten up for winter hibernation. Voting officially opened Sept. 22, continuing a tradition started in 2014 to select which bears are the best and most fat using a March Madness-style bracket. You can learn more and vote here, plus read some delightful bios on the bears in the running or peruse its hall of champions. Something like a million people vote in this event every year, according to the daytime news …

How to help Katmai’s brown bears this Fat Bear Week

This Fat Bear Week, bear enthusiasts from around the world can not only vote for their favorite chunky brown bears (Ursus arctos). They can actually help protect the bears’ home. Every donation made to the Katmai Conservancy’s Otis Fund through October 3, will be matched by explore.org, the organization that runs the bear livestreams at Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska.  The Otis Fund is named for the first Fat Bear Week Champion, Bear #480 (Otis). During the one-day event in 2014, called Fat Bear Tuesday, Otis was selected as champion over elder female Bear #410. He went on to take the crown again in 2016, 2017, and 2021 before his death in 2024. “His steadfast patience and determination when fishing at Brooks Falls gave many people a sense of calm,” former National Park Service (NPS) ranger and explore.org naturalist Mike Fitz tells Popular Science. “He was an ambassador for his species who helped people fall in love with Brooks River and its bears and, in turn, [worked] to protect the salmon runs that …
