Goldman doubles down on active ETFs with .3 billion Neos deal

Goldman doubles down on active ETFs with $2.3 billion Neos deal

Aug 12 : Goldman Sachs will acquire exchange-traded funds provider Neos Investments for as much as $2.25 billion, as the investment bank looks to bolster its presence in active asset management. Neos manages $30 billion in assets across 19 ETFs that cover a suite of index products, while using options to generate additional income and cap downside risk. Demand for such products has surged of late, as institutions look to hedge portfolios with investments that help cushion drawdown risk and provide recurring income in a volatile market environment. Goldman has pursued acquisitions in the actively managed ETF space to strengthen its asset management unit and capitalize on the growing demand. The Wall Street giant completed the $2 billion buyout of Innovator Capital, which also employs an options-based ETF, earlier this year. “The deal capitalizes on the accelerating adoption of derivative income ETFs and deepens durable A&WM (asset and wealth management) revenues,” analysts at Jefferies said in a note. Neos has returned about 19 per cent over a one-year period through June in its flagship S&P …

OpenAI reportedly completed a billion employee tender offer

OpenAI reportedly completed a $7 billion employee tender offer

OpenAI has bought back $7 billion worth of shares from employees at the privately held frontier AI lab as part of an effort to provide liquidity to its workforce. The deal, reported by Bloomberg, valued OpenAI at $852 billion, the same as its most recent fundraising round in March, which added $122 billion to the company’s war chest. The company also filed confidentially with the Securities and Exchange Commission in June to prepare for a potential IPO later this year. However, a tender offer suggests that an IPO may not be forthcoming soon. With many tech companies remaining private longer than previous generations of startups, private tenders have proven a useful way for firms to allow employees to realize the value of their stock compensation without the difficulties that come with a public offering. OpenAI did not respond to a request for comment by publication time. Last month, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wrote that “we did not have our best 12 months ever, which is mostly my fault, but we are about to have our …

Game Over? GameStop CEO May Pull $56 Billion eBay Bid

Anyone who took GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen’s bid for eBay seriously should have reconsidered after his CNBC interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin in early May. When Sorkin pressed him on the basic math, Cohen failed to clearly explain how GameStop could finance the $56 billion deal or make the proposed cash-and-stock structure work. The interview raised more questions than it answered and pointed to the inevitable conclusion: the deal was never likely to happen from the start. Here’s the most contentious part of Ryan Cohen’s CNBC Squawk Box interview about the GameStop-EBAY acquisition. This is a HEATED back and forth, uncommon for financial news. $GME Sorkin, at one point is in disbelief at RC’s repetitive answering to his question. pic.twitter.com/MWAbYWStlp — Reese Politics (@ReesePolitics) May 4, 2026 Fast-forward to Monday morning, when a new Bloomberg report citing people familiar with the matter said Cohen is considering withdrawing the $56 billion bid for the online marketplace. However, Cohen is not giving up on a potential partnership with eBay. He is reportedly considering proposing a partnership or …

Intel plans $15 billion share sale as turnaround rally lifts stock

Aug 10 : Intel said on Monday it was planning to raise $15 billion through a share sale, as it looks to fund the costly build-out of its chip contract manufacturing business by cashing in on a stock surge fueled by its turnaround efforts. Once a dominant force in the global chip industry, Intel is investing heavily in new facilities and advanced packaging capabilities as it seeks to challenge industry leaders such as TSMC in contract chip manufacturing. Its shares fell more than 4 per cent in early trading. As of last close, the stock has nearly tripled this year, outperforming rivals AMD and Nvidia and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index’s nearly 75 per cent rise. Several analysts have said Intel’s surging share price has increased the chances of an equity raise to help fund its expansion plans. “As a capital-intensive business that went a long way to wrecking its own balance sheet and prospects by focusing on financial engineering rather than physical engineering, courtesy of $82 billion of share buybacks in the 2010s, it makes …

Fallon/AFP via Getty Images America’s two largest private prison companies, CoreCivic and GEO Group, are reporting a combined $1.4 billion in quarterly revenue over the spring as immigration detention closes in on record levels. Those revenues announced Thursday do not include net proceeds of $1.6 billion made by CoreCivic after the recent sale of four of their facilities to the Department of Homeland Security. Patrick Swindle, CoreCivic’s President and CEO, told investors on an earnings call that that works out to an average rate of $307,000 per bed. The earnings — from April through June of this year — come as the U.S. is holding almost 66,000 people in immigration detention, nearing record levels not seen since January, according to Transactional Records Access …
