King Charles’ intense workout to get his ‘legs really strong’ at 77

King Charles’ intense workout to get his ‘legs really strong’ at 77

Between travelling across the country for his day-to-day engagements, the King is often on his feet. While the royal is generally tight-lipped about his impressive fitness routine at 77, he recently let it slip how he keeps his legs “really strong” to keep up with his busy schedule. Like his sister Princess Anne and other members of the royal family, Charles shares a lifelong love of horse riding and was an amateur jockey in his day. While he’s largely stepped back from the saddle in recent years, he swears by a different form of exercise to make your legs strong enough for riding – and you don’t need to go to the gym for it. Charles imparted a piece of advice to a royal reporter from The Sunday Times who was training for an upcoming horse race. “You’re riding so short [stirrups], it’s about the most exhausting thing I’ve ever done,” he said.  © Tim Graham Photo Library via GetKing Charles has been a lifelong horse riding enthusiast “So what I found, was to really improve your …

Sky News halted for breaking King Charles announcement | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Sky News was abruptly halted for a King Charles III announcement this afternoon as the monarch met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. As the breaking news banner flashed across the screen, the host Jayne Secker said: “Breaking news, we can bring you. It’s just been announced that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, has visited the King this afternoon. We knew he was across in the UK and had a meeting with the Prime Minister yesterday.” She continued as she delivered the update: “It’s not the first time he has met the King, but it’s another meeting between the President of Ukraine and the King.” It comes a day after UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, President Emmanuel Macron of France, Chancellor Friedrich Merz of Germany, and Zelenskyy met to discuss their unwavering support for Ukraine in its defence against Russia’s war on the nation. On Sunday evening, in London, they debated “the urgent need to scale up” Ukraine’s air defences and deep-strike capabilities. The meeting with various world leaders came hours after a Russian …

King Charles and Queen Camilla set blended family example long before Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling

King Charles and Queen Camilla set blended family example long before Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling

When Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling exchanged vows on Saturday, they didn’t just become husband and wife, the newlyweds also became stepparents. The bride and groom both have children from previous marriages. The Queen’s eldest grandchild shares two daughters, Savannah Phillips and Isla Phillips, with his former wife, Autumn Phillips, while Harriet has one daughter, Georgina, from her previous marriage to fitness trainer Antonio St John Sperling.  A month after Harriet and Peter went public with their relationship in 2024, a source told HELLO! that they and their children had become “a tight unit, very quickly” and seemed to “be a bit of a family.” Two years later, they officially became a blended family of five. Blended families are nothing new within the royal family, with King Charles and Queen Camilla, as well as Princess Beatrice, having welcomed stepchildren into their lives. King Charles and Queen Camilla Charles became a stepfather to Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes upon his marriage to Camilla, and she became a stepmother to his and Princess Diana’s boys, Prince William and Prince …

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are being bankrolled by King Charles – is it time they start paying rent?

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are being bankrolled by King Charles – is it time they start paying rent?

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have found themselves unwillingly in the spotlight again, following the release of a new report by the National Audit Office into the royal family’s residential property arrangements. The report uncovered the shocking detail that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the King’s disgraced brother, was subletting his properties at Royal Lodge and gaining an undisclosed private income. It’s understood the rent Andrew received was to cover the maintenance and running costs of the sublets, and he did not make a profit; as the leaseholder, he was allowed to do that. But the revelation has prompted fresh outcry over the benefits Andrew had, while only paying peppercorn rent on his 30-room Windsor mansion. WATCH: Has the King been bankrolling Beatrice and Eugenie? The King’s rental agreement with Beatrice and Eugenie What was also laid bare in the report, however, was that Andrew’s daughters, Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 36 – two non-working members of the royal family who have their own careers, second homes in the Cotswolds and Portugal respectively, and are married to wealthy husbands …

King Charles ‘could be paying £278k per year’ for Eugenie and Beatrice’s rent despite Andrew’s daughters being non-working royals

King Charles ‘could be paying £278k per year’ for Eugenie and Beatrice’s rent despite Andrew’s daughters being non-working royals

King Charles could be paying more than £278,000 per year to cover the rents of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie’s accommodation in royal palaces, a valuer has estimated. Both Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s daughters are non-working royals, but maintain residences in St James’s Palace and Kensington Palace, according to a new audit published on Friday. The report, published by the National Audit Office (NAO), said the rents were discounted to around 60 per cent of open market prices because the Royal Household properties require tenants with security clearance. It did not reveal the figures the King is paying. It also found that for a number of years, these adjusted rents were based on out-of-date open market valuations. Princess Beatrice has a property in St James’s Palace, and Princess Eugenie has Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace. Both of these are covered by the privy purse, which is King Charles’ private money, according to the report. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor received an undisclosed private income from subletting three cottages (PA) Robin Edwards, a property buying agent at Curetons, told The Independent the …

King Charles secretly funding Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s below-market-average rent

King Charles secretly funding Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s below-market-average rent

King Charles has been secretly funding Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie‘s below-market-average rent, an investigation has found.  The monarch, 77, has been footing the bill for his nieces’ accommodation in royal palaces, despite neither of them being working royals, according to a report published by the National Audit Office (NAO) into the royal family’s residential property arrangements.  Princess Beatrice, 37, has an apartment in St James’s Palace, while Eugenie, 36, has Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace – both Royal Household properties within the occupied royal palaces.  However, for several years, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor‘s daughters’ adjusted rents – reduced because the Royal Household properties require tenants with security clearance – were calculated on out-of-date open market valuations. Kate Middleton is a pillar of support for King Charles for special Cancer Research milestone

King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a reception in London’s St James’s Palace on Tuesday night to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Cancer Research UK. Not only were Their Majesties joined by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, but the Princess of Wales also surprised fans with her last-minute plans to join the celebrations, announced by Kensington Palace just hours before the event. This will be an evening close to Kate and Charles’ hearts, as they have been directly impacted by the charity’s work with their personal health struggles. Poignant evening Princess Kate’s cancer was discovered during an abdominal surgery in 2024, and she announced in March 2024 that she’d be undergoing chemotherapy, which was completed by September. The mother of three, who shares Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis with Prince William, announced she was in remission at the start of 2025. the scandals of Georgian politician Charles James Fox

the scandals of Georgian politician Charles James Fox

Political satire has mocked the powerful for centuries. But in an age of endless headlines, rolling news and social media outrage, satire can often feel strangely powerless. In Georgian Britain, satire had the power not just to entertain the public, but to shape reputations and destroy careers. Satire meant a scandal could define a politician for decades. Few figures embodied this more completely than Charles James Fox, as my research explores. Fox was one of the most famous politicians of his age. He was a brilliant parliamentary speaker, early supporter of the French revolution, notorious gambler and political celebrity long before the term even existed. Though technically a Whig (a former political party), Fox transcended party labels. Admirers celebrated him as a champion of liberty and the “man of the people”. Critics saw him as reckless, corrupt and morally unfit for office. He fascinated the public because politics itself was changing. The late 18th century was an age of expanding print culture, coffeehouse debate and increasingly personality-driven politics. The boundary between the public and private …

Five stunning walks on the new King Charles III England coast path | Walking holidays

Lindisfarne and Bamburgh, Northumberland Day one Circular walk of Lindisfarne (4 miles)Day two Budle Bay to Bamburgh to (5 miles) The first swallows are swooping round the headland as I follow the coast path along the western side of the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. There are ringed plovers on the beach and a couple of grey seals bobbing out at sea. A barefoot guy is splashing along the tidal Pilgrim’s Way, an ancient post-marked path across shining sands. Lindisfarne is only accessible when receding tides uncover this path and the curving causeway road nearby. The original 62 miles of Northumberland coast path, which opened 20 years ago, bypassed the island, so I’ve been looking forward to walking this stretch of the England coast path, which opened two years ago. Very few of us will walk the full 2,700 miles of the King Charles III England coast path, which was inaugurated in March, but a four-mile stroll around Holy Island is an adventure in itself, a shifting landscape of wader-foraged mudflats, dunes, beaches, whinstone cliffs and a reedy blue-and-gold lough.
