Jason Sudeikis Performs Ted Lasso Theme Song at Mumford & Sons Concert

Jason Sudeikis Performs Ted Lasso Theme Song at Mumford & Sons Concert

Jason Sudeikis, star and co-creator of Ted Lasso, made a surprise cameo at Mumford & Sons’ Tuesday night concert in New York City to perform the hit Apple TV show’s theme song. Halfway into the show at Madison Square Garden, the camera panned to a surprise guest in the crowd: Sudeikis. He was nodding his head to the music at first and then smiled and ran on stage to finish out the song with the band. The crowd erupted in cheers for the actor and the duet. The Ted Lasso theme song was co-written by composer Tom Howe and Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford, the latter of which also performed the song that plays near the beginning of each episode. On Tuesday, Mumford later told the New York crowd to quiet down “or I’m going to stick Ted on you.” He also mentioned that he worked on the music for the Coen Brothers’ 2013 film Inside Llewyn Davis, which starred Oscar Isaac and his wife, Carey Mulligan. Isaac later joined him on stage to …

‘He Comes to Every Concert With Me’: Meeting the BTS ARMY Boyfriends Outside the Arirang Tour

‘He Comes to Every Concert With Me’: Meeting the BTS ARMY Boyfriends Outside the Arirang Tour

A horde of BTS fans flooded the mile-long pedestrian walkway connecting American Dream Mall to the parking lot of MetLife Stadium. It was Saturday afternoon, six hours before the seven-member supergroup took the stage for the first of two sold-out shows in East Rutherford—their first headlining shows at MetLife since 2019. And ARMY (the group’s highly dedicated and loyal global fanbase, whose name stands for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth) had been waiting for this moment for years. Couples walked hand in hand wearing matching BTS apparel, some of which was emblazoned with the names of their bias (the K-pop term for “favorite member”). Their clear plastic bags—12” by 6” by 12” in accordance with MetLife policy—dripped with BTS-branded keychains and figurines, whose jangling foreshadowed the fanfare about to erupt on the big stage. I’d opted for a slightly more low-key outfit, but I was part of that crowd—and not just as a spectator. I am a card-carrying BTS ARMY boyfriend. I’d secured tickets to the MetLife show for me and my girlfriend because she …

St. Vincent Brings Cinematic Orchestral Tour to Hollywood Bowl

St. Vincent Brings Cinematic Orchestral Tour to Hollywood Bowl

St. Vincent wrapped up her critically lauded orchestral tour run in her “adopted hometown” of Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl Sunday night, enlisting the venue’s famed orchestra to help turn her discography into a full-on theatrical experience. The concert marked the culmination of a concept years in the making, starting with when the singer-songwriter — real name Anne Clark — was first invited last year for BBC Proms, where she collaborated with conductor Jules Buckley for a concert at Royal Albert Hall. That resulted in St. Vincent’s latest album, Live in London!, which dropped in March, and a now-completed two-month trek that had her and Buckley playing with local symphony orchestras all over the country from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston, New York and Detroit, among many more. Still, the Hollywood Bowl is the only locale appropriate to wrap up something as cinematic as this, and Clark delivered, bringing an hour-and-a-half set that flew by as she added yet another layer to her already genre-bending mix of art-rock and pop. The orchestral accompaniment lends itself well …

Alice McShane’s film, Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, includes accusations of sexual assault, statutory rape, grooming and threats of sexual assault. The four women who make the most serious allegations in the film say they encountered the 54-year-old Oscar-winning actor and musician between 2002 and 2016, when they were between 16 and 18 years old each, and he was in his 30s and 40s. Leto has denied all the allegations, saying in a statement to The Independent: “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.” Similar allegations were made against Leto last year, which he also denied. In a new interview with Variety, McShane said that it is a “mystery” why his …

Experts finally discover what prompts conspiracy theorists to act on their beliefs

Get the Well Enough newsletter with Harry Bullmore for tips on living a healthier, happier and longer life Get the Well Enough email with Harry Bullmore Get the Well Enough email with Harry Bullmore What turns a conspiracy theory into an action? There are three characteristics that can determine when these beliefs are likely to shape real-world behavior, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg Public Policy Center shared this week. The first is how certain people are that the belief they hold is true, the second is how important the belief is to them personally and the third is whether it is seen as “actionable.” The characteristics were discovered after reviewing data from studies that examined conspiracy theories about Covid vaccines, the “Deep State” undermining President Donald Trump and the theory that there’s an orchestrated effort to make white people a minority. “People may endorse a conspiracy theory to the same extent, but that does not necessarily mean that it will translate into behavior to the same extent,” Javier A. Police investigations ongoing after UK band Massive Attack shows support for Palestinians at Singapore concert

SINGAPORE: The police and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) have opened investigations after British trip-hop band Massive Attack expressed support for the Palestinians at their concert in Singapore on Wednesday (Jul 29). “Police confirm that reports were lodged and investigations are ongoing,” the police and IMDA said on Thursday in response to CNA queries. “IMDA is also investigating a possible breach of license conditions.” The band shouted “Free Palestine” during their performance at The Star Performing Arts Centre, prompting many audience members to join in the chant, a concertgoer who asked not to be identified told CNA. Videos circulating online also showed two band members holding a Palestinian flag on stage while the crowd cheered. Singapore does not allow the public display of foreign national emblems without a permit or exemption. Offenders may be fined up to S$500 (US$387), face up to six months’ jail, or both. CNA has contacted The Star and the concert’s promoter Lushington Entertainments for comment.  The band also claimed it had to pull a song from their set list …
