Monoco actor settles the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 endings debate

Rich Keeble, who plays Monoco in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has weighed in on the game’s multiple endings, even offering a jokey option for his own ‘canon’ ending pick. Keeble is the latest guest in our Arcade Hang interview series, with the second part of our conversation now being available on YouTube. In this chunk of the chat, we also talk about his iconic awards show outfits. Spoiler alert! Stop reading now if you don’t know what happens at the end of the game. Fans of Expedition 33 won’t need reminding that the game offers the player a choice between two potential endings. In Maelle’s ending, the player consciously decides to keep all the main characters alive within what is essentially a fake world; in Verso’s version, the illusion is shattered and reality restored, but that means several characters cease to exist. In terms of his own take on the Clair Obscur endings, Keeble admitted that his feelings have changed over time. Want to see this content? This page contains content provided by YouTube. We …

‘We’ve been paying for happy endings for Andrew for years’: the inside story of a royal disgrace, by his biographer | UK news

The Saturday morning I meet Andrew Lownie, the author of “the most devastating royal biography ever written” (according to the Daily Mail), the front page of every newspaper carries the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Some have aerial shots of the police arriving to search his home, most including the now infamous photograph of his face in the back of his car. He looks hunted, because he literally has been, but his expression is curiously blank, its most legible emotion grievance. One journalist, Lownie says, reported late on the night of Friday’s arrest that: “Andrew still can’t see what the problem is. He thinks he’s been hard done by. He’s obsessed with other details – whether he can take his horses up to Norfolk, who’s going to get the dogs, where he’s going to park his car. It’s a sort of disassociation.” Lownie’s office, in his home a stone’s throw from parliament, is a monument to the success of his book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York (along with his other books: …

17 great movies ruined by terrible endings

The history of cinema is littered with films that spend an hour or two deftly courting their audiences, only to drop the baton at the final sprint. Whether that’s through a shocking, misjudged twist, such as the soppy drama Pay It Forward or M Night Shyamalan’s The Village, or simply down to a film running out of steam, there have been many movies with endings that left a foul taste in viewers’ mouths. Sometimes, this is out of the filmmakers’ hands. This was the case with Fight Club, which saw its original ending entirely removed by Chinese censors and replaced with a terrible alternative. Other times, it’s solely the choice of the writers, …

Allstar Picture Library/Alamy Stock Photo hide caption toggle caption Allstar Picture Library/Alamy Stock Photo Rose Horowitch has caused a stir with a recent piece in The Atlantic where film professors say many of their students don’t watch the whole movie they are assigned, and don’t know the endings. “This is what happens when you grow up on smartphones, YouTube, TikTok, and infinite scroll,” Jordan Ruimy wrote for World of Reel. “An ecosystem designed to destroy sustained attention. Today’s students were raised inside that machine. Asking them to sit still and focus on a two-hour French New Wave film without stimulation feels, to them, like a marathon.” I understand the professors’ despair. But perhaps there’s an opportunity here to tell film students how some classic films really end. Write this down: In The Godfather, Michael Corleone decides he can’t go on in organized crime and turns the family olive oil enterprise into the Corleone Knitting and Yarn Shop of Brattleboro, Vermont. The shop’s slogan: “Make them a sweater they can’t …

Stranger Things’ Boss Dismissed Multiple Endings Theory Before ‘Conformity Gate’

Stranger Things’ Boss Dismissed Multiple Endings Theory Before ‘Conformity Gate’

Depending on where you fall on the debate, you may well have woken up on Wednesday expecting to see a shiny new episode of Stranger Things waiting for you on Netflix. In the past week, hoards of fans around the world have fallen under the spell of a popular fan theory known as “Conformity Gate” which suggests that the events of the Stranger Things finale’s epilogue were, in fact, a fake reality created by Vecna, and that the real ending to the show would be revealed in a bonus episode released on 7 January. Since the theory began to spiral in popularity on social media, those who believe in it were somewhat encouraged by the fact that Netflix and the show’s creators were remaining tight-lipped about the whole thing (HuffPost UK contacted the platform for comment on Tuesday but did not receive a response). However, it’s probably worth pointing out that the Duffer Brothers previously dismissed the suggestion that “multiple endings” had been filmed as far back as November. Stranger Things co-creators Ross and Matt …
