The tool aisle makes batteries look easy. A bigger amp-hour number should mean a stronger pack, and for years that held close enough to true. Ryobi, DeWalt, and Milwaukee have each broken that logic recently. Every one of them added a second spec, printed quietly or not printed at all, that decides how much power a battery actually hands to the tool. The number on the front now measures runtime more than raw strength. That gap is where people overpay, because on all three platforms the real money goes into the battery rather than the tool. September is off to a rough start for Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft announced on Tuesday, Sept. 1, that it’s removing Cyberpunk 2077, as well as other awesome games, from the service on Sept. 15. Microsoft also announced that Game Pass was getting a few games, like Call of Duty: Cold War, but an uninspiring CoD and a few roguelike deck builders don’t make up for the games the company is removing. Microsoft pulling awesome games, like Cyberpunk 2077, definitely hurts the quality of the library. Years after its initial, rocky release, Cyberpunk in particular has evolved into a rich, complex game full of impressive environments, wild storylines and unforgettable allies. The level of customization also ensures that nearly every playstyle is accessible and fun. The Phantom Liberty expansion seals this as one of my favorite games of all time. Sony caused a stir among gamers in July when it announced the phase-out of physical PlayStation game discs starting in 2028. In California, a group of gamers sued the company over its practice of selling digital games on its storefront. However, this isn’t the landmark case some are hoping for that would bring back physical media. A lawsuit filed in June on behalf of four gamers alleges Sony violated California’s AB 2426 regarding digital purchases. According to the complaint first reported by Aftermath, Sony “misled” customers who purchased games via the PlayStation Store by not making it explicit that they were only buying a license for the game. Sony’s defense is that the links about the license are made available to those buying games, and it’s clear that the ones buying the games don’t own them. California’s AB 2426 was signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom in 2024. It requires sellers of digital goods such as music, movies, ebooks and video games to clearly disclose when consumers are receiving a license for the content …

Before an impish monkey named Julius—emblazoned on everything from T-shirts and sweatpants to lunchboxes and handbags—became virtually inescapable in the early 2000s, there was just a sewing machine, a stack of vinyl, and a makeshift workshop in Paul Frank Sunich’s Southern California garage. Those homemade experiments would eventually grow into Paul Frank, a global brand that turned Sunich’s cartoon monkey into a pop-cultural touchstone for an entire generation. Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem got their start in a similarly DIY fashion. When the brothers behind the Baltimore skate label Carpet Company wanted to print their own T-shirts, they bought a used screenprinting press off Craigslist and set it up in a friend’s grandmother’s basement.
