The model and actor, 69, tied the knot with the media mogul, 95, at a ceremony in a Fleet Street church in 2016, shortly after the couple announced their engagement in The Times newspaper. In the summer of 2022, Hall filed for divorce in a California court, citing “irreconcilable differences”. “Not all exes you want to be friends with, do you?” she told British Vogue. “Some people aren’t friendly. But I think when you have children with someone, it’s important to be friendly.” She added that she and Murdoch “were married six and a half years and no children”, and noted that she hasn’t seen him “in a couple …

Why Taylor Swift Asked Steven Spielberg to Induct Her Into the Songwriters Hall of Fame

Why Taylor Swift Asked Steven Spielberg to Induct Her Into the Songwriters Hall of Fame

“What’s the security issue?” one event photographer asked another. “You know why there are security issues,” the second answered. “Taylor Swift is here.” On Thursday, the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City played host to a small pack of bomb-sniffing dogs, an army of security guards, miles of black partition curtains, and unsuspecting hotel-goers who seemed unfamiliar with the mechanics of the Marquis’s automatic revolving doors—all (or at least some) in anticipation of Swift’s arrival. But before there was Taylor Swift, the sea-parting mega-celebrity; Taylor Swift, the world-conquering music mogul; or even Taylor Swift, the pop star, there was Taylor Swift, the songwriter. That’s the Swift who was being honored at the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala: the youngest woman ever to be inducted, and the second-youngest person overall, behind Stevie Wonder, who was inducted at the age of 32. Swift’s class of fellow inductees includes Alanis Morissette, Kiss’s Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, Kenny Loggins, Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, Walter Afanasieff, and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart. Paul Stanley, Taylor Swift and Nile …

Taylor Swift’s Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction Speech

Taylor Swift’s Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction Speech

Taylor Swift gave an emotional, 20-minute speech during her induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York on Thursday evening, expressing her life-long passion for crafting songs, the sacrifices her family made to let her follow her dreams as a young girl and her advice for the next generation of hitmakers. “If I look back at my entire 23-year career in music, the ups and downs, the industry battles, the trials and tribulations, the tears and the cheers, and the dog piling of doubt, the criticisms of fair and unfair, the complete loss of privacy, the world tours and the ego wars and the twists of fate, the absolute magical chaos of this path that I chose when I was too young to remember it ever being a choice at all: songwriting was the easiest thing I ever did,” Swift told the crowd on Thursday. Expanding on that statement, Swift said that writing was easy because it was “instinctual.” ”No one taught me how to do it,” Swift said, adding that she had …

Entertainment Workers Oppose Paramount-WBD Merger in Town Hall

Entertainment Workers Oppose Paramount-WBD Merger in Town Hall

Emotions spilled over at a gathering of Hollywood workers, union officials and a current and former FCC commissioner opposed to the planned Paramount Skydance-Warner Bros. merger on Saturday, with some arguing that the mega-merger on top of other recent challenges in the business would mean the “death of Hollywood.” Writers, actors, crew members and small business owners made dire predictions for the proposed $111 billion transaction at the “Main St. vs. The Merger” town hall at Beverly Hills’ Lumiere Cinema. Some expressed feelings of powerlessness at the prospect of one historic studio swallowing another, a transaction Warner Bros. shareholders approved in late April. Others, including moderator and former FCC commissioner Alvaro Bedoya, urged that the transaction isn’t a done deal yet and called for hope. On Friday, Reuters reported that California, New York and other state attorneys general are preparing a lawsuit to block the merger after California attorney general Rob Bonta previously promised to look into the deal. Nevertheless, many in the room didn’t seem to be banking on that suit stopping the transaction. …

Faith leaders keep ministering at Delaney Hall

Faith leaders keep ministering at Delaney Hall

(RNS) — Moments before Department of Homeland Security agents fired a hail of pepper balls at the feet of demonstrators outside the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, New Jersey, last Monday (May 25), faith leaders say they were frantically working to calm things down. Kathy O’Leary, coordinator of the Catholic group Pax Christi New Jersey, said she was helping to push the crowd back. Rabbi Rachel Kahn-Troster, executive vice president of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility, said she and a Christian pastor had placed themselves between agents and demonstrators, raising their hands aloft. And the Rev. Robin Tanner, a Unitarian Universalist minister in Summit, New Jersey, said she was conversing with DHS agents as she stood beside U.S. Sen. Andy Kim, who had come to visit Delaney amid reports of a hunger and labor strike staged by detainees alleging inhumane conditions inside.  Then, unexpectedly, DHS agents unleashed the volley of pepper balls. All three faith leaders — along with Kim — were exposed, some left coughing and sputtering as bystanders rushed to help. “We got …
