Princess Kate’s heartwarming motherhood moment lands unexpected honour

A photo of Princess Kate and her three children is in the running to win the annual UK Picture Editors Guild Awards, with the picture depicting the family at the VE Day celebrations in May 2025. Kate and her kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, were snapped standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace and watching the Red Arrows flypast on the special day, which marked 80 years since Nazi Germany officially surrendered World War II in 1945. The foursome leaned over to see the military planes during the procession on May 5. Also in attendance at the event were Prince William, King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. © UK Press via Getty ImagesThe photo has been shortlisted in the UK Picture Editors Guild Awards Prince George and his younger brother looked smart in matching navy suits with blue ties, while Charlotte wore a blue-green coat and matching dress. Zelenskiy Could Be Stripped of Top Polish Honour, Poland’s President Says

Zelenskiy Could Be Stripped of Top Polish Honour, Poland’s President Says

By Anna Wlodarczak-Semczuk WARSAW, May 29 (Reuters) – Poland’s president said on Friday he wanted a state body to discuss stripping Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy of Poland’s top honour, after Ukraine renamed an army unit after nationalist insurgents who massacred Poles in World War Two. Poland has been a staunch supporter of Kyiv during Russia’s war in Ukraine, and former President Andrzej Duda awarded Zelenskiy the ‌Order of the White Eagle in 2023. But Zelenskiy ‌has caused indignation in Poland by signing a decree recognising a Ukrainian special forces unit’s contribution to the fight against Russian forces by naming it after the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Some Ukrainians regard the UPA as heroes for the resistance they mounted against the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, and as symbols of Kyiv’s struggle for independence from Moscow. But the UPA was also involved in the Volhynia massacres, a series of killings from 1943 to 1945 in which Poland says around 100,000 Poles were killed by Ukrainian nationalists. Thousands of Ukrainians also died in reprisal killings. “Glorifying the …

Drake Albums: ‘Iceman,’ ‘Habibti,’ and ‘Maid of Honour’ Review

Drake Albums: ‘Iceman,’ ‘Habibti,’ and ‘Maid of Honour’ Review

The rollout of his big comeback project wasn’t exactly auspicious. Drake foreshadowed one of the releases by erecting a giant sculpture of ice blocks in his native Toronto that, when melted, would reveal the date of Iceman’s drop. Ultimately, the ice sculpture was removed and destroyed by Toronto fire officials after being deemed a public safety hazard. To quote an ever popular and enduring meme, in many ways Drake came into the release of Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour “at his lowest…fat, nasty, and broke. Career in shambles.” But surprisingly, the best tracks off these albums are the ones on which he lets go of that anger and gets a little silly. While it debuted at No. 3 on the chart—making it the lowest-ranked of Drake’s three new offerings—Maid of Honour is the best album of the trilogy, the one on which he largely lets go of his bitterness and resentment and has some fun again. Drake has always had many facets as an artist, and he’s a prolific one at that. There’s the …

Drake: Iceman / Maid of Honour / Habibti review – triple-album comeback is a boring, bloated disaster | Drake

Drake: Iceman / Maid of Honour / Habibti review – triple-album comeback is a boring, bloated disaster | Drake

It is easy to over-estimate Drake’s fall from grace. True, he was unanimously declared the loser in the most high-profile rap beef of recent times, and is currently engaged in a protracted legal battle with his own record company over said rap battle that everyone except Drake and his lawyers seems to think smacks of the worst kind of bad loserdom. He is also fighting lawsuits alleging that he illegally misled viewers during gambling livestreams – pretending to bet his own money while actually using funds from an online casino he promotes – and that he furthermore channelled funds from said online casino into artificially inflating streaming figures (Drake has not commented on the allegations; Stake, the casino, described one of the lawsuits as “nonsense”). Also in the lawsuits is Adin Ross, a denizen of the manosphere who Drake has been palling around with, unbothered that the other guests on Ross’s stream have included Andrew Tate and Nick Fuentes. Equally, Drake is still the most-streamed rapper in the world. Had all this really impacted on …

Jess Cartner-Morley on fashion: forget the church fete vibes, the brooch is now fashion’s badge of honour | Fashion

Jess Cartner-Morley on fashion: forget the church fete vibes, the brooch is now fashion’s badge of honour | Fashion

I have arrived in my brooch era about two decades ahead of schedule. I had brooches earmarked for a later life stage, accessories that would chime with The Archers, gardening, possibly solving the odd crime in the village, that sort of thing. The Guardian’s journalism is independent. We will earn a commission if you buy something through an affiliate link. Learn more. But in an unexpected turn of events, I am already the correct age to wear a brooch. Not because I’m old, but because brooches have changed. They have cast off their church fete vibe and become cool. Zendaya wore a diamond serpent brooch pinned to the back of her white jacket to last year’s Met Gala. At a press conference before the recent Mexico City premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2, Meryl Streep added no fewer than six brooches to the lapel of her pillarbox red Dolce & Gabbana suit. Pedro Pascal wore a silk Chanel camellia the size of a sunflower to the Oscars. The brooch has escaped from Granny’s jewellery box, climbed out …

Kate Middleton set to receive ‘prestigious’ honour in Italy

The Princess of Wales will be presented with the “Primo Tricolore” – Reggio Emilia’s highest honour – in recognition of her Early Years work, Hello can reveal. Kate will be given the green, white and red flag that inspired modern-day Italy’s national symbol during her stay in the northern Italian city this week. The Italian flag was first created in Reggio Emilia in 1797, long before the unification of Italy in 1861. The original version, bearing the coat of arms of the Cispadane Republic – four arrows surrounded by a laurel wreath, was later adopted to represent the entire country. © Samir Hussein/WireImageThe royal is set to receive a special honour The city’s Mayor, Marco Massari told a council session: “We consider this visit truly prestigious because it highlights one of the experiences that make our city a model known and appreciated worldwide. “We are convinced that the visit of a woman who uses her popularity as a vehicle for spreading educational approaches in harmony with the Reggio Approach is of great importance.”The Princess is …

Mike Myers makes unrecognizable rare appearance to honour Eddie Murphy at the AFI Life Achievement Awards

There are red carpet moments, and then there are movie history moments. Mike Myers delivered the latter in spectacular style as he stepped out in one of his most unexpected appearances in years to honour longtime friend and collaborator Eddie Murphy at the prestigious AFI Life Achievement Awards. In a move that instantly delighted fans, Mike appeared wearing a full green prosthetic mask, transforming himself into none other than Shrek, the beloved ogre he famously voiced. It was a playful, deeply nostalgic tribute that nodded to the pair’s enduring on-screen partnership. Because of course, long before this awards night reunion, the two icons created cinematic magic together in Shrek, with Mike voicing the grumpy-but-lovable ogre and Eddie bringing the endlessly energetic Donkey to life. Their chemistry became the beating heart of the franchise, turning it into one of the most successful animated series of all time. © Getty Images for AFIDave Chappelle, Eddie Murphy, posed with AFI Lifetime Achievement award, and Mike Myers attend the 51st AFI Life Achievement Award Taking to the stage, still fully …
