Nike Is Turning Its Most Iconic Soccer Cleats Into Sidewalk-Ready Sneakers
Remember #BootsOnlySummer? Last year’s short-lived TikTok trend, in which style-minded soccer fans sported their cleats on concrete, was both silly and potentially quite painful. But it also served as proof of an increasing demand for footy-inspired silhouettes in the sneaker world. Now, ahead of the 2026 World Cup, Nike has found a way to serve that growing audience by turning a slew of its most iconic football boots into sidewalk-ready lifestyle shoes—without removing their spikes. The Swoosh’s new Cryoshot line, which launches today with a collection of seven legendary on-pitch models, uses a new proprietary technology to encase the shoes’ studs in a clear TPU outsole. The spikes are still very much visible, as though frozen in a block of ice. Once you see the Cryoshot kicks in action, it’s so natural and elegant a solution that it’s hard to believe nobody thought of it sooner.
