Cannes Iran Film ‘Into the Jaws of the Ogre’: ACID Director Interview

Into the Jaws of the Ogre (Dans la gueule de l’ogre) is the title of the feature film debut from Iranian-French director Mahsa Karampour. Co-written with Maya Haffar, the documentary has a road movie feel and is about Karampour and her very different brother Siavash, their bond, their experiences in France and the U.S., respectively, and the experience of life of displaced and exiled people. Into the Jaws of the Ogre takes audiences on a music-tinged cinematic journey between Iran and the United States, between past and present, including clandestinely shot footage from Iran. World premiering on Thursday, May 14 in the lineup of ACID, the Cannes Film Festival sidebar run by France’s association of film directors, viewers get to experience the siblings’ discussions, struggles, hopes and dreams. “I can’t quite grasp the adventurous life of my brother Siavash, so far from my own,” the filmmaker explains in a synopsis for the film. “While I have just become French and he is about to become American, far from our native Iran, we are searching for common ground.” ACID …

Israeli military ‘preparing for new Iran conflict’ as Middle East war fears explode | World | News

Citing military sources, ynet reported the IDF has entered a war-preparation mode, similar to what was used ahead of previous strikes on Iran, including operation Roaring Lion, when the first of the latest strikes began on February 28, 2026. The units have reportedly been told to maintain readiness across all branches, shorten response times and close operational gaps. The military was understood to be increasing the pace of building its target bank for Iran, which means the list of potential strike targets in the event of a conflict. The media outlet said the bank would focus primarily on military objectives and supporting infrastructure. Officials familiar with the details said this was so rapid strikes could be carried out, should a political decision be made. The Israeli Air Force is also reportedly finalising strike plans, including “attack packages” that would integrate long range capabilities. Pre-empting incoming strikes, the IDF is reportedly bolstering its defense systems, preparing for the possibility of simultaneous attacks from multiple arenas. The failure to reach a deal today has created uncertainty over …

George Clooney Slams Trump White House After Acting Ability Criticism

George Clooney is clapping back at Donald Trump‘s White House after they criticized his acting abilities when he accused the president of committing war crimes over his Iran threats. In a new statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar winner slammed the Trump administration, saying there’s no time for “infantile name-calling” when more serious matters are happening in the world and the U.S. “Families are losing their loved ones. Children have been incinerated. The world’s economy is on a knife’s edge,” Clooney wrote. “This is a time for vigorous debate at the highest levels. Not for infantile name-calling. I’ll start. A war crime is alleged ‘when there is intent to physically destroy a nation,’ as defined by the Genocide Convention and the Rome Statute. What is the administration’s defense? [besides calling me a failed actor which I happily agree with having starred in Batman and Robin?].” This latest exchange between Clooney — who has been very outspoken against Trump over the years — and the current administration ignited when Trump wrote on Truth Social Tuesday, …
