The Knicks Championship Trophy at American Museum of Natural History

The Knicks Championship Trophy at American Museum of Natural History

Missed a golden glimpse of the first Knicks’ championship trophy in 53 years, as it made its victory lap through Manhattan? Never fear, New York: Get yourself to the American Museum of Natural History starting Monday, where the Larry O’Brien Trophy will be on display through January 3. The Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs on June 13, crowning a spectacular comeback season and ending a two generation-spanning dignity drought for New York City. And so commenced a literally explosive weekend of celebrations across the five boroughs, which culminated in a ticker-tape parade on June 18 to City Hall. Roughly 2 million fans attended, leaving thousands more on the wrong side of the police barricades along Broadway — close but frustratingly far from the team. Related Articles The Knicks’ historic win has “brought the city together in really exciting ways,” AMNH President Sean M. Decatur told the Gothamist Wednesday. “It’s wonderful as a civic institution and an iconic part of the city’s museum landscape to be a part of that.” The Larry O’Brien Trophy is …

A Jersey Worn by Knicks’ Jalen Brunson in NBA Finals Fetches $1 M.

Following the New York Knickerbockers’ historic win in the 2025–26 NBA season finals, Sotheby’s New York sold a jersey worn by point guard Jalen Brunson on Wednesday for just over $1 million. It was the Knicks’ first championship win in 53 years, and the jersey set a new record for any piece of Knicks memorabilia. The house’s expert, Brahm Wachter, had estimated it could make in excess of $1 million. Opened on June 30, the sale of finals memorabilia concluded Wednesday, realizing $2.9 million. The sale drew more than 400 registered bidders, said the house, nearly 30% of whom were new to Sotheby’s. New Yorkers accounted for one-third of all sale registrants. Related Articles Brunson wore the $1 million jersey on June 3, in game one of the NBA finals, when the Knicks took on the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden. The point guard scored 30 points over the course of the game, 13 of them in the final quarter, as well as racking up three rebounds and two assists, leading the Knicks to …

Jose Alvarado Will Return to the Knicks on a Multiyear Deal, AP Source Says

Jose Alvarado Will Return to the Knicks on a Multiyear Deal, AP Source Says

NEW YORK (AP) — Jose Alvarado will return to the New York Knicks on a multiyear contract, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Friday. Alvarado declined his player option and is working with the NBA champions on a three-year deal, according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the contract was not yet finalized. ESPN first reported the plan, saying Alvarado would make more than $14 million with the new deal. The guard was acquired from New Orleans during the season and had a player option for $4.5 million for next season. Alvarado indeed came home on Feb. 5 when the Knicks acquired the Brooklyn native who attended Christ the King High School. He was primarily a backup behind Jalen Brunson but was on the floor with the All-Star for most of the fourth quarter of the Knicks’ 107-106 victory over San Antonio in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, when they made a record comeback from a 29-point deficit. Alvarado had eight …

Jordyn Woods’s “Lucky Bag,” the Knicks’ Good-Luck Charm, Heads to The Guggenheim

Jordyn Woods’s “Lucky Bag,” the Knicks’ Good-Luck Charm, Heads to The Guggenheim

From June 24 to 28, the famous orange clutch will be displayed in a glass case at the New York institution. In a press release, Mariët Westermann, CEO of the Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, explained: “People have always found meaning in objects that embody profound cultural moments, and they often go to great lengths to see them. That is one reason museums exist. Like art, basketball at the stratospheric level of the Knicks thrives on discipline, creativity, and teamwork—and on bringing people together.” The statement perfectly sums up the unique journey of this object, which, in just a few weeks, has become a symbol of the city. Towns himself shared his opinion after Game 4 that the bag’s rightful place was in a museum, saying in an Instagram reel, “The bag did its thing tonight! We’ve got to put this in The Whitney or The Guggenheim.” “When I heard Karl-Anthony Towns say that maybe the lucky bag should come to The Guggenheim, I was thrilled,” Westermann said in the press release. Woods, in the Guggenheim’s …

Jordyn Brooks’s ‘Lucky’ Orange Knicks Handbag at Guggenheim Museum

Jordyn Brooks’s ‘Lucky’ Orange Knicks Handbag at Guggenheim Museum

Tired of winning yet? The Guggenheim in New York isn’t. Earlier this week, the museum announced that a “courtside icon” from the New York Knicks’s NBA Finals run is coming its way. Fashion designer Jordyn Brooks, who is also the fiancée of Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns, made a sample Tux Clutch Mini bag in orange to commemorate the Knicks playoff run. At the Finals, she carried the bag with her at every game except Game 3, due to Madison Square Garden’s “no-bag” policy that day. That game was the only one the Knicks lost. “I made this sample for the playoffs,” Woods told NBC talk show Today with Jenna & Sheinelle earlier this month. “I started wearing it, we won the game and it became a superstition.” In a video that went viral, Towns can be heard talking about the bag after the NBA Finals victory, saying that the bag has to go in “the Whitney or the Guggenheim.” Well, in an Instagram post earlier this week, the Guggenheim announced the handbag will go on view at …

Tyrese Haliburton on His Hollywood Plans and Watching the Knicks Win

Tyrese Haliburton on His Hollywood Plans and Watching the Knicks Win

Tyrese Haliburton, the 2024-25 New York Knicks slayer, was forced to sit out this past NBA season following a devastating achilles injury immediately followed by a horrific bout with shingles. The result, in part, was New York sports history. Without their superstar, the Indiana Pacers fell from the second-best team in the league (by virtue of losing the NBA Finals last year after Haliburton went down early in Game 7), to having the second-worst record in 2025-26, beyond only the pathetic Washington Wizards (ironically now led by the prior playoffs’ Knicks killer, Trae Young). It has been about as bad a 12-month stretch as possible for Haliburton and the Pacers organization, but the 6’5″ guard out of Iowa State used his recovery time to officially launch a side hustle: Hollywood producer. In April, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of Haliburton’s Zero Doubt Creative launch and its partnership with Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse Entertainment. Today, on the day their debut-series (Time Out, produced by Zero Doubt Creative, Wheelhouse Sports and Portal A, which chronicles Haliburton’s grueling …

Jalen Brunson’s Knicks Parade Rolex Is Fit for the MVP

Jalen Brunson’s Knicks Parade Rolex Is Fit for the MVP

Making his way down the Canyon of Heroes along lower Broadway this week, point guard Jalen Brunson held the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy aloft in a Rolex-clad arm as jubilant bystanders jockeyed for selfies and fist bumps. He had reason to be confident, of course: having scored 45 of the Knicks’ 94 points in Game 5 against the Spurs, he not only helped clinch the team’s victory in a difficult fourth quarter, but was also responsible for helping deliver heretofore unseen energy levels to the city. For a man who can afford any watch he damn well likes, a gold Day-Date is an interesting choice: despite its solid precious-metal construction, its relative flash almost registers as quaint when stacked up against the gem-set “rainbow” Daytonas and skeletonized, complicated luxury sports watches of today. It’s the type of timepiece that a Knick of the Sopranos era (as well as Tony himself) might strap on—but also, a model whose shelf life is seemingly, well, endless. Sotheby’s Is Offering Knicks Star OG Anunoby’s NBA Finals Game 4-Winning Basketball

Sotheby’s Is Offering Knicks Star OG Anunoby’s NBA Finals Game 4-Winning Basketball

For most New Yorkers looking to savor the Knicks’ first NBA championship in 53 years, a commemorative T-shirt—perhaps purchased bootleg outside Madison Square Garden—will have to do. But for the lucky few superfans with a few million to spare, a far more rarefied piece of Knicks history is about to hit the auction block. Starting June 30, Sotheby’s will offer the game-winning basketball from the Knicks’ improbable Game 4 comeback against the San Antonio Spurs, in which the team erased an unprecedented 29-point deficit at MSG. The ball was used on the game’s second-to-last play, when star forward OG Anunoby tipped in point guard Jalen Brunson’s missed three-pointer, securing a 107–106 victory. The tip-in sealed the largest comeback in NBA Finals history and set up the team’s clinching Game 5 in San Antonio two days later. Related Articles Sotheby’s has not announced an estimate, though sports business analyst Darren Rovell has predicted the ball will sell for $3 million. The auction house has dubbed it “The Hand of OG,” and it is being offered via …
