Lewis Hamilton has given his followers an inside look into his recent holiday with girlfriend Kim Kardashian, and he urged fans to “hold your people close”. The 41-year-old Formula 1 driver’s emotional message comes after Kim’s grandmother Mary Jo “MJ” Shannon – the mother of Kim’s mum Kris Jenner – passed away aged 91. Following the tragic news, Lewis took to Instagram to share several snaps with Kim and her family on their lakeside getaway, and he wrote: “hold your people close [people hugging emoji]” Among the pictures of the couple’s Idaho vacation was one of Lewis and Kim holding hands and looking lovingly into each other’s eyes. John Lewis has issued an urgent recall notice for 15 of its popular products. The retailer is urging customers who have the items to “stop using them immediately” after identifying a serious health risk. A range of door stops and draught excluders is being withdrawn from customers due to potential asbestos contamination. The products were available for purchase from January 31, 2021, to June 11, 2026. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) published the recall notice, which will also be displayed in stores. It stated: “The products present a risk to health as the marble chips sealed within the doorstops and excluders may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos. “Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a health risk even at low levels of exposure. The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.” Asbestos is known to cause serious lung damage and can even trigger cancer. John Lewis, which has 36 stores, said it had started a consultation on redundancies as it plans to close the desks that operate bureau de change services in 30 stores and gift wrapping in 25 stores. A final decision has not been taken on the closures, but if confirmed they will take place in autumn. The brand is known for its strong customer service on the high street. “They are removing the area of the shop that John Lewis claims they stand for,” a staff member told the Guardian. The staff member said that shop floor workers who will take on the additional work of handling queries and offering gift wrapping at tills are “already overworked, overwhelmed with responsibilities and short staffed”. My elderly parents spent much of last year dealing with what should have been a straightforward insurance claim after a dishwasher installation by John Lewis caused a leak. Instead, it became a year-long ordeal, marked by repeated failures and an almost total absence of accountability. The dishwasher had been leaking imperceptibly for more than a year and saturated walls and floors in the kitchen, hall and dining room by the time the damp was discovered. John Lewis accepted liability, passed the claim to a claims management company appointed by its insurer, and effectively stepped away. My parents were repeatedly told that if they did not accept what were clearly substandard repairs, they risked being left to pay the costs themselves. Unacceptable delays forced them to live in a series of hotel rooms with their dog for eight months, with no cooking facilities and a food allowance of £10 a day.
