She finds no relief at home, where her extended family has been taking refuge from the horrors of the south. As hundreds of thousands of displaced people disappear into her city, Angelina finds herself in a constant state of unease, increasingly aware that she is as vulnerable as those she helps. (The Conversation) — As the 2026 FIFA World Cup starts on June 11, 2026, traditional news and social media channels will be full of pictures of the players. Many of them will be showing their tattoos. Body art has become increasingly part of international soccer, although its prevalence can vary across geographical regions. A study of athletes participating in the 2018 World Cup found that Latin American players were the most heavily tattooed, followed by those from Oceania and Europe. African and Asian players are the least tattooed. I have been studying tattoos and their spiritual and religious roles since 2018. Tattoos are an investment of time and money; they tend to symbolize something important in the person’s life. For professional athletes, however, they take on another level of meaning. These athletes operate in controlled environments in which what they do and say with their bodies is highly regulated. Zac Efron has seemingly packed up and departed Hollywood for a new life in a blissful Australian coastal town that is home to another major movie star.  The American actor, 38, has reportedly been secretly living and putting down roots in New South Wales’ idyllic Byron Bay, the Mail revealed. Zac has been overseeing the construction of his new eco-friendly home near the popular Aussie town for the last month, as per Australian designer Joost Bakker. “Excited to get started on Zac’s house!” the environmental innovator captioned a photo alongside the Hollywood star on 8 May, confirming the property had been approved. In recent photos posted on 23 May, the actor looked involved in the building process as he joined the designer on cropping land, which will apparently be used to make materials in the actor’s kitchen and bathroom.  Zac first relocated to Byron Bay during the pandemic in early 2020. One data point has recently caused much astonishment, confusion and also anger online. As Statista’s Katharina Buchholz details below, it is the finding that men benefit more from being married in terms of life expectancy than women do. In other words, that men live longer and healthier lives if they are backed up by a spouse in doing so, while women don’t see the same support in prolonging their length and quality of life. The notion that men rob years of life from their wives and basically tag them on to theirs is, however, not supported by (most) research on the topic. Yet, the differences in how men’s and women’s lives are affected by marriage or the lack thereof are still significant. In our quest to understand what’s out there in the Universe, one cosmic unknown looms larger than all the rest: are there other examples of life, complex life, intelligent life, and technologically advanced life out there beyond planet Earth? However, there’s one muscle group that it may be worth paying extra attention to to maximize your longevity. “Having stronger and larger quads are associated with better outcomes across multiple populations,” says Corey Podbielski, a board-certified doctor of physical therapy at Gaylord Specialty Healthcare. Podbielski says quad strength is important because it is closely related to many functional movements. “Getting up from the floor, getting out of a chair, climbing up/down stairs, and squatting to lift objects all require strong quads,” he says.
