Luke Evans on Broadway Role in ‘Rocky Horror,’ Tony Nomination

Luke Evans on Broadway Role in ‘Rocky Horror,’ Tony Nomination

When director Sam Pinkleton began envisioning a Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show, he drew up a list of qualities he believed the lead, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, needed to have.  “He had to be a truly tremendous actor. He had to be a real comedian, like a clown. He had to have a killer voice. He had to be terrifying, and also tender,” Pinkleton said. “We had to be scared of him, and we also had to want to fuck him. I also really felt strongly that it needed to be somebody who carried some kind of queerness with them, whatever that means.”  At first, Pinkleton was unsure who could embody all of that and provide a new take on the role made famous by Tim Curry. But when he met Luke Evans, an onscreen action star with a background in musical theater, he found a fit in an actor who happily contains his own contradictions.  Standing at 6 feet 8 inches in heels, Evans towers above cast members including Stephanie Hsu, Juliette Lewis, Harvey …

Met Gala 2026: The Best Celebrity Red Carpet Looks From Heidi Klum To Luke Evans

Every year, the Met Gala gathers together some of the most famous faces from across the world of music, cinema, sport and, of course, fashion for a star-studded fundraiser in aid of the Metropolitan Museum Of Art’s Costume Institute. This year’s event was held on Monday night, and proved to be as A-list as ever. Co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and, as ever, Anna Wintour, the themed dress code of 2026’s Met Ball was “Fashion Is Art” – really allowing the famous guests to think outside the box and let their imaginations run wild when putting together their red carpet looks. And what do you know – some of them actually did. On that note, we’ve pieced together some of the must-see looks from this year’s Met Gala, from some of the biggest stars on the planet… Beyoncé As one of the organisers of the Met Gala this year, Beyoncé will have known that all eyes were on her on the red carpet. Leaning into the elaborate theme, the Break My Soul singer …

Disney Parks in 2026: Leia, Luke and Han Hit Galaxy’s Edge

Disneyland had a huge 2025 when it kicked off its 70th anniversary, a celebration that continues at the original Disney theme park this year. Three new rides are also being built at California Adventure, as well as a whole new Avatar area. And at Walt Disney World in Florida, four new lands are being constructed right now, themed around villains, Pixar characters and more. Here’s everything you need to know about Disneyland, Disney World and Disney Cruise Line in 2026 and beyond. Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge: New old characters New characters have begun roaming around the Star Wars-themed lands in Disneyland, as the area “expands its timeline” to include Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Han Solo. The original trio of Star Wars main characters arrived in Batuu on April 29 and are now interacting with guests and other characters. To help tie them in with the more modern Star Wars land, there will also be new props, graphics and music (featuring the legendary John Williams score) in Galaxy’s Edge. “Black Spire Outpost will roll back in time several …

Keira Knightley, Luke Thompson Set for ‘The Lives of Others’ Play

Keira Knightley is set to lead a new West End adaptation of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s Oscar-winning film The Lives of Others. Adapted and directed by Rockert Icke at London’s Adelphi Theatre, the Pride and Prejudice and Pirates of the Caribbean actress will be joined by Game of Thrones star Stephen Dillane and Bridgerton‘s Luke Thompson. From Sonia Friedman Productions, the stage show — also boasting an original score by Hamnet composer Max Richter — will premiere on Oct. 29 this year, running until Jan. 9, 2027. “1984. East Germany,” begins a plot synopsis. “A writer and an actor are placed under state surveillance. From the attic above their apartment, their Stasi man listens for evidence of subversion. But to observe a life is to risk changing your own.” The production sees Icke and Friedman renew their creative partnership following their work on plays including Oedipus, Manhunt, Hamlet, The Doctor, Oresteia, and 1984. Knightley and Friedman re-team after working on 2011’s The Children’s Hour. Henckel von Donnersmarck’s 2006 German-language film stormed the subsequent awards season, including at …

Luke Hemsworth Has to Be “Very Specific” About Which Hemsworth He Is

Luke Hemsworth Has to Be “Very Specific” About Which Hemsworth He Is

“When I walk in the room, I have to be very specific about who I am. But it still gets confusing,” says Luke Hemsworth. “Every now and again someone calls me Liam.” In an interview with The Guardian, the Australian actor opened up about being the oldest brother of one of cinema’s best-known families, humorously recounting what it was like growing up alongside little brothers Chris Hemsworth and Liam Hemsworth. Despite his best efforts, he still sometimes gets confused with his actor siblings: “I actually got introduced at the Beast premiere as Liam Hemsworth by Rob Carlton,” Hemsworth said. “I’m going to call him out! Fuck you, Rob! He came up after and said, ‘I’m so sorry. I had a brain fart.’” In Beast, Hemsworth plays Gabriel, a “dirtbag” mixed martial arts fighter with a dirtbag goatee. Hemsworth revealed to The Guardian that all of his siblings enjoy MMA and UFC. “It was a big part of growing up in my household with my idiot brothers, being able to protect myself from the wild throws …

Luke Combs’ Surreal Cartier Tank Proves That He’s an A1 Collector

Luke Combs’ Surreal Cartier Tank Proves That He’s an A1 Collector

Luke Combs has quietly been assembling a grade-A watch collection. Over the past few years, the singer has worn everything from classic luxury staples, like his Rolex GMT-Master II, to stranger, more insider-y fare, including an A. Lange & Söhne. His latest choice might be the boldest yet: an underrated variant of one of Cartier’s most eccentric designs, the Tank Folle. While everyone knows the melted dimensions of the Crash, the Folle receives much less fanfare. Combs’s Cartier made its debut in 2012, so it’s a much more recent invention than the ’60s-era Crash. But the origin of the Folle might be even more compelling. Whereas the Crash riffs on the bathtub-shaped Bangoire, the Folle goes right to one of the most iconic watches ever made in the Tank. It feels slightly more dangerous to mutate the shape of a load-bearing piece like this. The result is wonderfully bizarre. The Tank’s normally straight brancards twist and warp into an almost liquid shape, as if the watch is slowly sliding off the wrist. Combs’s variant is …

New Acting Lt. Gov. Chosen in Hawaii as Luke Takes Leave of Absence

Sylvia Luke, the embattled lieutenant governor of Hawaiʻi, said Thursday she will take an indefinite leave of absence without pay. “This decision is not made lightly,” she said in a press release. “Serving the people of Hawai‘i has been the honor of my professional life, and I remain deeply committed to the responsibilities entrusted to me.” She added, “I understand that allegations which have been made against me are concerning. I ask for the public’s understanding and to allow this process to move forward appropriately.” The announcement came just hours after Luke met with Gov. Josh Green at the State Capitol. On Wednesday, Luke’s attorney confirmed the Hawaiʻi attorney general’s Special Investigations and Prosecution Division considers Luke a target in an investigation of $35,000 given to an influential state lawmaker in 2022. Thursday’s press release said Luke would not give any interviews. In a written statement, Green said he asked Luke to take leave “until the investigation is resolved, so government can remain focused on serving the people of Hawaii.” Later Thursday, the governor designated …

‘Cool Hand Luke’ Woman Who Washed the Car Was 87

‘Cool Hand Luke’ Woman Who Washed the Car Was 87

Joy Harmon, forever known for her brief turn in the Paul Newman classic Cool Hand Luke as the young woman who provocatively washes a car with lots of soapy water as overheated prisoners in the chain gang look on, has died. She was 87. Harmon died Tuesday at her home in Los Angeles, her family announced. Blond, blue-eyed and perpetually tanned, Harmon served as Groucho Marx’s assistant on the 1961 CBS game show Tell It to Groucho, then starred as a girl in Hawaii who gets mixed up in a robbery in the beach party movie One Way Wahine (1965). She also showed up on lots of TV shows, from The Beverly Hillbillies, My Three Sons, Burke’s Law, Gidget and Batman to Bewitched, Occasional Wife, That Girl, The Monkees and The Odd Couple. In an interview with author Tom Lisanti for his 2007 book, Glamour Girls of Sixties Hollywood, Harmon said her agent told her that she should wear a bikini to her Cool Hand Luke audition for Newman and director Stuart Rosenberg, so she …
