You need to eat protein — but the right mix really matters

amino acids: Simple molecules that occur naturally in plant and animal tissues and that are the basic building blocks of proteins. biochemistry: A field that marries biology and chemistry to investigate the reactions that underpin how cells and organs function. People who work in this field are known as biochemists. blood sugar: The body circulates glucose, a type of simple sugar, in blood to tissues of the body where it will be used as a fuel. The body extracts this simple sugar from breakdown of sugars and starches. However, some diseases, most notably diabetes, can allow an unhealthy concentration of this sugar to build up in blood. calcium: A chemical element and alkali metal common in minerals of the Earth’s crust and in sea salt. Jesy Nelson and Zion Foster split: The Little Mix star’s dating history

Jesy Nelson and Zion Foster split: The Little Mix star’s dating history

Jesy’s first high-profile romance came with childhood friend and Diversity star Jordan Banjo, shortly after Little Mix’s rise to fame. The pair dated for 10 months before going their separate ways in March 2013. Despite their split, Jordan later publicly supported Jesy following her BBC documentary Odd One Out, in which she revealed she tried to take her own life. He said: “I think it’s something that, again, is hard for someone in Jesy’s situation, because where she’s been so successful, she’s done so much, people’s initial reaction is to go, ‘Well, if you wanna do that, you have to expect it.’ “It’s like, it doesn’t work like that. People get on a phone, or they get on a keyboard. “Just imagine you could walk up to anyone in the street and say things that you say online. It’s just weird; it’s disconnected, and people think they can say what they want.” (© Avalon) Source link

Former Little Mix singer tells Sky News how it was her mum who first noticed twins’ rare genetic condition | UK News

Former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson said none of the healthcare workers who checked her twin babies realised they had a rare genetic condition which means they may never walk – and it was only thanks to her mum that they were diagnosed. Earlier this month, Nelson, 34, announced in an emotional Instagram video that her baby twins had spinal muscular atrophy type 1 (SMA1). Speaking to Sky News’ The UK Tonight programme with Sarah-Jane Mee, Nelson described how her girls were diagnosed with the condition only at six months, despite repeated visits to the GP and healthcare visitors checking in on them. “When I took them home, I was very on edge about everything,” she said. “But the one thing I wasn’t taking notice of was the movement of the legs…it took for my mum to spot that sign and that’s what’s really worrying because we had healthcare visitors come a lot and none of them spotted those signs.” There is treatment for SMA, but an early diagnosis is key to its effectiveness. Mix and mismatch: if it doesn’t go with anything, it goes with everything | Fashion

Fashion is a dance between rules and rebellion. Great style requires a bit of both. The rules are essential, because one of the key emotional benefits that a great wardrobe can deliver is a sense of control in a chaotic world. The rules are there to simplify and clarify, lighting our route to a well put-together outfit. That well put-together outfit has the power to help you feel calmer, simply because you look in the mirror and see a competent person and therefore feel like a competent person. Style rules also come in useful for making sense of the world around us. Dress codes, style tribes, the signals we send – whether as blatant as the slogan on a T-shirt, or as subtle as the brand of your rucksack – hold an important social function, making other people legible to us. Fashion dies if it stops moving, because moving with the times …
