In addition to Pancake’s release from Coney Island, five rehabilitated Kemp’s ridley sea turtles are back swimming in the ocean off Cape Cod. The New England Aquarium’s Sea Turtle Hospital in Quincy released the sea turtles following seven months of rehabilitation.. The animals were all treated for various life-threatening medical conditions, including pneumonia, dehydration, and trauma.  As per tradition, the staff names each year’s batch of rescued turtles along the same theme. Ancient Egyptian Papyrus Confirms the Existence of a Race of Giants – OpentheWord.org

David and Goliath By Jacob Jordaens (1593–1678)/Wikipedia/Public Domain A 3,300 year old Egyptian document on display at London’s British Museum confirms the Bible’s claim that there once a race of giants, the Daily Mail reports. Throughout history there have been giants. Most are one-offs caused by a misfunctioning pituitary gland. This includes the world’s current record holder, a Turkish farmer named Sultan Kösen, who stands 8’3”. His hands are over 11” long. His growth was sparked by a tumor on his pituitary gland. Many of these individuals die young and often have health problems. In Sultan Kösen’s case, he needs crutches to walk. The Bible also speaks of giants, but these were not one-offs, but rather a tribe of giants. These individuals were fully mobile and violent. The 12 spies encountered them after Moses sent them in to spy out the Promised land: And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.” (Numbers 13:33 ESV) These …

Ancient papyrus explains why Joseph and Mary had to go to Bethlehem – OpentheWord.org

Just before Christ’s birth, Joseph and Mary were required to go to Bethlehem to register for a census. Now Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, 5 in order to register along with Mary, who was betrothed to him, and was pregnant. (Luke 2:4-5 NASV) While there Mary gave birth to Jesus. This fulfilled Micah’s prophecy that the future ruler of Israel would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2). But with Joseph and Mary living in Nazareth some have questioned why they needed to return to Bethlehem for the census. This was normally not required. In an article posted on the Associates for Bible Research website, Bryan Windle points to the discovery of an ancient papyrus which provides the one exception requiring people to return. Known as Papyrus 904, it is located in London’s British Museum. In the document, Prefect Gaius Vibius Maximus provides the details of a census that would take place in …

Ipuwer Papyrus Confirms the Ten Plagues and Israel’s Exodus out of Egypt – OpentheWord.org

Drawing of man putting blood around the door frame leading up to the Tenth Plaque of Egypt, death of the FirstbornCredit: Distant Shores Media:Sweet Publishing, Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 3.0 The Daily Mail had an interesting article on the Ipuwer Papyrus, an ancient Egyptian document, that confirms the Exodus account of the ten plagues. After God raised up Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt, the pharaoh needed a bit of convincing to let them go. So God sent ten plagues culminating in the death of the first born that finally forced the pharaoh to let Israel leave. It was interesting to see the secular media picking up on this story. The papyrus, which is now displayed at the Dutch National Museum of Antiquities, put an interesting twist on the plagues. This is because it recounts them from an Egyptian perspective. In fact, the author of the document is warning the current Pharaoh that unless they change their ways, God would sent plagues on the country as He had done in the past. “No conclusive evidence …
