Although certain child restrictions aren’t new at Apple, the company is expanding its parental controls and working with the American Academy of Pediatrics to learn more about digital guidelines for children, the company announced at WWDC 2026.  Sumbul Desai, Apple’s vice president of health, said during the company’s WWDC keynote presentation that the guide for parents will help “them establish those healthy digital habits using our child safety features.” The company is working with researchers to “understand the impact of technology on children’s well-being, and are committed to advancing the science in this area.” Here are the child safety protection advancements and new features announced at the event.  Child accounts Child account parental control features are expanding to block adult websites, only allow access to “age-appropriate media,” and allow a slew of parental controls. June 8 : Workers will escalate the strike at Inpex’s Ichthys LNG facilities in Australia that started last week over a wage dispute, after talks failed to progress with the Japanese operator, the Offshore Alliance union said on Monday. Ichthys accounts for about 10 per cent of LNG supply from Australia, which is now the world’s second-largest LNG exporter following damage to facilities in Qatar due to the Iran war. The Offshore Alliance, made up of the Maritime Union of Australia and the Australian Workers’ Union, said it would ramp up the four-hour stoppages and bans at the facilities which commenced last Wednesday. “Last night, members endorsed work stoppages escalating to eight hours per day, and we’ll be loading up a stack of work bans on Thursday,” the union said in a Facebook post. The union said Inpex, Japan’s biggest oil and gas explorer, reneged on terms agreed in a Fair Work Commission-facilitated bargaining that took place on Saturday. MALICIOUS EFFORTS TO SOW DISCORD MHA said that it has observed deliberate attempts to spread more of such content in Singapore’s local information space. These are malicious efforts to sow discord by inciting ill will against the Indian community in the country, said the ministry. “This includes Indian migrant workers in sectors such as construction who are here to make an honest living,” it said. “They contribute to Singapore’s growth and development, and are valued members of our society.” The problematic content likely breaches Section 298A of the Penal Code for knowingly promoting feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will between different groups on grounds of race, or committing an act prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony between different racial groups in Singapore, said the ministry. The offence carries a punishment of up to three years’ jail and a fine.
