Casualty reveals first look trailer for 40th anniversary special

An extended trailer for the 40th anniversary of Casualty has been released. The longest-running primetime medical drama in the world plans to mark its milestone anniversary with a double-bill of episodes. Airing on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 5 September, the instalments will see the show’s beloved characters placed in a “major high-stakes incident” that is set to throw the emergency department into chaos. Radio Times was on set with the Casualty team during the making of these episodes, and will have an exclusive look behind-the-scenes with interviews from cast and crew next month. As the trailer shows, consultant Dylan Keogh (William Beck) and staff nurse Cam Mickelthwaite (Barney Walsh) stroll out of Holby City Hospital’s emergency department to the sight of ash falling from the sky following a catastrophic explosion. Those injured are seen receiving medical care, while clinical lead Flynn Byron (Olly Rix) informs his colleagues that the incident has taken place at St. James’ Hospital, on the other side of the fictional Wyvern Valley. King Charles closes doors to ‘uniquely special’ Balmoral home as he prepares to retreat from the limelight

King Charles is preparing to briefly step away from public life for his annual break at the family’s long-time “cherished” Scottish residence, Balmoral Castle.  As the royal family get ready to retreat to the 50,000-acre estate in Aberdeenshire for the summer, the grounds will no longer be accessible to the public. Balmoral Castle’s official website states that visitors are welcome to the grounds, gardens and exhibitions from 28 March to 9 August, after which it will shut its gates ahead of the royal family’s arrival.  “The grounds, gardens, Mews Gift Shop, Restaurant and Ballroom Exhibition are now open daily until Sunday 9th August,” the notice reads. From 10 August, the estate will remain temporarily closed to visitors for the duration of the summer. Like many young people with a diagnosis of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, Jacob Schreiber was creative, empathetic and endlessly curious. He found deep satisfaction in composing music and studying the stars. He took solace in understanding how and why the world worked as it did. His 2024 death from suicide at age 19 devastated his loved ones. In their grief, Schreiber’s family has turned to the questions Jake grappled with his whole life. “He was always searching for answers,” his mother Lori Schreiber said. “Why am I different from my sisters? Why do I feel different in my brain?” Jake Collective, a nonprofit foundation founded in Schreiber’s honor, is partnering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention on a five-year, $5 million research initiative devoted the mental health needs of neurodivergent children and adolescents.
