Production Wraps Ahead of 2027 Release

The Legend of Zelda touched down in Sin City on Monday, with Sony teasing the upcoming video game adaptation during the studio’s CinemaCon presentation. First-look images from director Wes Ball’s live-action film had been released in November, and at CinemaCon, president of Sony’s motion picture group Sanford Panitch announced that the movie had recently finished principal photography. Sony did not reveal new images or details about the feature that counts Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad as producers. “We just wrapped production on Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda — based, perhaps, on the most beloved gaming franchise of all time that sold over 180 million copies in four decades,” Panitch said. “It has been produced by the creator himself, Miyamoto, along with Avi Arad, and it’s directed by Wes Ball, whose most recent Planet of the Apes movie was a box office hit.” The exec continued, “The film releases worldwide May 7th, 2027. We and the legion of fans everywhere cannot wait. And video game adaptations continue to be a significant focus for us.” …

Statue of Liberty terror attack warning ahead of USA 250 celebrations | US | News

The Statue of Liberty could become the target of a terrorist attack, Burgum warned (Image: Getty) Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum issued a stark warning about a possible terrorist attack on the Statue of Liberty as the United States prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of its independence. Speaking at a press conference in New York, Burgum praised the U.S. Park Police, the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency, highlighting their crucial role throughout American history. While discussing their work safeguarding the Statue of Liberty – amongst America’s most recognisable landmarks – he observed it features prominently in imagery on the majority of terrorist recruitment websites, cautioning that it could one day become the target of an assault. “The Statue of Liberty, by the way, is the most featured image on terrorist recruiting sites,” Burgum said. “It’s the thing that, if someone could wreck our 250th anniversary…” He continued by explaining that the U.S. Park Police vets more than 4 million visitors to the monument annually before they embark on the renowned ferry crossing …

Alserkal Art Month Expands Dubai Art Week Ahead of Rescheduled Art Dubai

Alserkal Art Month Expands Dubai Art Week Ahead of Rescheduled Art Dubai

Alserkal Avenue will stretch its usual Art Week into a five-week “Art Month” from April 18 to May 18, adding grants, temporary warehouse space for collectives, and a commercially focused group show organized with 12 galleries from around the United Arab Emirates. The extension is an effort to keep exhibitions and sales moving at a moment when pressure is building across the market and the global stage.  The initiative broadens what was once a tightly packed week of openings into a more distributed model: 16 gallery exhibitions, public art commissions, and more than 100 talks, performances, and events unfolding over five weekends. Among the opening shows are Green Art Gallery’s group exhibition “All the Lands from Sunrise to Sunset” that examines the persistence of imperial power through work by artists like Michael Rakowitz, while Efie Gallery will debut a public-facing viewing room with art by El Anatsui and Aïda Muluneh, among others.  Related Articles At The Third Line, Sara Naim’s solo exhibition will feature paintings that move between figuration and abstraction and will be paired with a video …

Football is being spoiled by time-wasting – what can be done ahead of the World Cup?

Football is being spoiled by time-wasting – what can be done ahead of the World Cup?

Football fans, broadcasters and even head coaches have been complaining this season about excessive time-wasting spoiling the flow of the men’s game. In the Premier League, the proportion of a match where the ball is in play is at a near-record low. Football’s world governing body Fifa has a target of 60 minutes of ball-in-play per game. Yet two Premier League matches this season had only just above 45 minutes of action – less than half the total match time. There are numerous factors explaining this decrease. One is the length of time players are taking over each corner, throw-in and free-kick. Repeated injury stoppages (including some that are allegedly faked by players seeking to delay a game) are also blamed – along with lengthy decision-making by each game’s video assistant referee (VAR). Video reviews have increased the number and length of stoppages, particularly for penalties, red cards and goals. There is now a benefit to staying down after contact in the penalty area while officials check for possible infringements. What might once have been …

How a US Blockade Near the Strait of Hormuz Could Work and the Impact Ahead for the Global Economy

How a US Blockade Near the Strait of Hormuz Could Work and the Impact Ahead for the Global Economy

A blockade of Iranian ports that President Donald Trump said began Monday could further disrupt oil prices, has spurred questions about international law and leaves doubts about whether the pressure tactic will force Tehran to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz. Trump threatened to impose the blockade after talks to further a fragile ceasefire ended without a deal this past weekend. Iran had previously halted nearly all tanker traffic through the key waterway, allowing only some ships perceived as friendly to pass while charging considerable fees. Enforcing the blockade is likely to demand significant resources from the U.S. Navy and could prompt concerns about military force and international law, experts say. Supply chain analysts, meanwhile, stress that the restrictions could undermine the flow of oil, fertilizer, food and other goods to consumers already facing higher prices. How the US could enforce a blockade of Iranian ports Successfully enforcing the blockade will require a sustained commitment of U.S. Navy ships and personnel, as well as clear guidance from the Trump administration and the Navy’s legal department, …

Coronation Street trailer released ahead of flash-forward murder reveal

A dramatic week on the cobbles is fast approaching in Coronation Street, with a stylistic new trailer showing the five potential murder victims walking towards George Shuttleworth’s (Tony Maudsley) funeral parlour. The countdown is on, and it won’t be long before we find out who meets their maker in the aftermath of Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) wedding day. As viewers will recall, the latest non-linear storytelling device saw one episode in February flash-forward to April, and the point in which Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) discovered a body. The House Article | Team Burnham Is Getting Organised Ahead Of The May Elections

4 min read1 hr Labour MPs say Angela Rayner is down, Andy Burnham is up. Sienna Rodgers reports on the obstacles on the mayor’s path to No 10 Even the most enthusiastic advocates of a change in the Labour leadership are starting to wonder whether the current stalemate will really be broken by terrible results in May. The party’s press operation may not yet have begun its expectation management ahead of the elections, but a very low bar has already been set in the minds of its MPs. “Ah, but that’s baked in,” they often say when asked about the possibility of shocking outcomes such as losing power in Wales for the first time ever. The number of Labour councillors lost in England could easily exceed 1,000, one whip privately conceded with a shrug. The mood of the Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP) can shift quickly, however, and allies of Andy Burnham hope that, in the case of truly dismal results, MPs will wake up to the severity of the crisis the party …
