Last June, JERA, also Japan’s top LNG buyer, said it had signed a 20-year SPA with Commonwealth LNG for 1 million metric tons per annum (mtpa) from the developer’s Louisiana project. A notification of the deal’s termination, dated April 1, was filed on behalf of Commonwealth. The letter said the agreement was terminated effective March 3, without giving a reason. As the Royal Family Unites for Commonwealth Day, One Important Guest Was Missing: The BBC

In his message, the sovereign also expressed his hope that the Commonwealth would continue to be a focal point for collaboration among nations: “Working together, we can ensure that the Commonwealth continues to stand as a force for good—grounded in community, committed to the kind of restorative sustainability that has a return on investment, enriched by culture, steadfast in its care for our planet, and united in friendship and in the service of its people.” The speech, of course, also addressed ongoing global emergencies: the conflicts that continue to affect regions such as Ukraine, Sudan, and, most recently, Iran. “Climate change is not an abstract or distant threat, but a lived reality. The stewardship of nature, the protection of oceans and forests, and the pursuit of prosperity secured in harmony with the natural world are duties we owe not only to one another, but to generations yet unborn.” On the environmental front, Charles spoke about climate change, citing data showing 2025 as the third warmest year on record, and raised concerns about the growing presence …

Every Commonwealth country that backs removing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the line of succession

Every Commonwealth country that backs removing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the line of succession

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor remains eighth in line to the throne, despite a string of scandals relating to his friendship with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.  Removing him from the line of succession would require an Act of Parliament approved by all 14 realms of the Commonwealth, where King Charles is the head of state. It would need to be approved by MPs and peers before being given royal assent by the King. Australia, Canada and New Zealand have led the way in speaking out, backing the removal of the former Duke of York. Jamaica, and the Bahamas are among the others that would need to support it. Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Solomon Islands, and Tuvalu are the other Sovereign states needed to back it. On Monday, the royal family is set to attend the annual Commonwealth Day service in Westminster Abbey. This year, it will be attended by senior royals, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess …

King Charles will make veiled reference to Iran War in Commonwealth Day message | UK News

The King will describe this as “a time of great challenge” as “across the world, communities and nations face the increasing pressures of conflict” during his message to mark Commonwealth Day. In an extract released ahead of the annual event on Monday, celebrating the Commonwealth nations, King Charles, who is also head of the Commonwealth, writes: “We join together on this Commonwealth Day at a time of great challenge and great possibility. “Across our world, communities and nations face the increasing pressures of conflict, climate change and rapid transformation. Yet it is often in such testing moments that the enduring spirit of the Commonwealth is most clearly revealed.” It can be seen as a veiled reference to recent hostilities between US and Israeli forces and Iran, as well as conflicts from Ukraine to Sudan. Scientists also designated 2025 as the third warmest year on record, with the climate crisis a long-held concern of the King. But wanting to convey an optimistic tone and outlook about the role of Commonwealth nations, he also writes: “Working together, …

New Zealand backs UK move to strip Andrew from royal succession | Royal | News

Christopher Luxon has pledged New Zealand’s support for ejecting Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal succession order. The New Zealand Prime Minister’s office released a statement confirming Wellington would back any British proposal to remove the disgraced former prince from the throne’s line of inheritance. A spokesman for Luxon said: “If the UK Government proposes to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the order of succession, New Zealand would support it. “The UK Government has said any proposals would come after the police investigation concludes.” The Express reported on how Thames Valley officers took Andrew into custody in the early hours of Thursday over alleged misconduct in public office. Andrew denies any wrongdoing in connection with evidence released in the Epstein files. Despite losing his royal titles in late 2024, he currently occupies the eighth position in the succession hierarchy. Coordinated Commonwealth legislation needed UK lawmakers are exploring legislative options to expunge Mountbatten-Windsor from the succession list — a constitutional change that demands approval from all 15 Commonwealth realms, each of which must enact matching domestic laws. Commonwealth Fusion Systems installs reactor magnet, lands deal with Nvidia

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) said on Tuesday at CES 2026 that it had installed the first magnet in its Sparc fusion reactor, the demonstration device that it hopes to turn on next year. The magnet is the first of 18 that, when the reactor is complete, will create a doughnut-like shape that will produce a powerful magnetic field to confine and compress superheated plasma. If all goes well, that plasma will release more energy than it takes to heat and compress it. After decades of promise and delay, fusion power appears to be just around the corner — CFS and its competitors are locked in a race to deliver the first electrons to the grid sometime in the early 2030s. If it pans out, fusion power could unlock nearly limitless clean energy in a package that resembles a traditional power plant. Key components of Sparc’s magnets have been completed, and the company expects to install all 18 by the end of the summer, said Bob Mumgaard, CFS’ co-founder and CEO. “It’ll go bang, bang, bang …
