Volvo is expanding its electric trucking lead with the launch of new and improved line of FH, FM, and FMX Electric HD and semi trucks with up to 700 km (~430 miles) of range. The next-generation Volvo FH, FM, and FMX Electric trucks feature Volvo’s new e-axle driveline technology, which the company says offers major improvements in flexibility, productivity, and driving comfort – along with enough increased efficiency to offer more than 400 miles of range in long-haul highway trim. “This long-haul electric truck is the best in the industry,” says Roger Alm, President Volvo Trucks. “It offers an outstanding range in combination with high payload, fast charging and great riding comfort. ACID, the Cannes Film Festival sidebar run by France’s association of film directors whose goal is promoting the theatrical distribution of independent films, unveiled its 2026 lineup on Tuesday, with general delegate Pauline Ginot promising a selection of nine “adventurous” and “bold” films from emerging voices from such countries as Iran, Switzerland and, of course, France. Launched in 1992, ACID has made a reputation for itself for discovering up-and-coming directing talents. Among others, it brought to Cannes the first features of such auteurs as Anatomy of a Fall director Justine Triet, who premiered Age of Panic there, Radu Jude, who unveiled The Happiest Girl in the World in the program in 2009, and Kaouther Ben Hania (The Voice of Hind Rajab), who screened her feature debut, The Blade of Tunis, at ACID in 2014. ACID has previously also championed early works by the likes of Guy Maddin, including My Winnipeg. YOKOHAMA, Japan, April 14 : Nissan Motor said on Tuesday it plans to streamline its global lineup to 45 models from 56 and seek to deploy its artificial intelligence driving technology across 90 per cent of its lineup over the long term. The company said in a press release its ambition was to return to annual sales of 1 million vehicles in the United States by the 2030 financial year and grow its annual sales volume in Japan to 550,000 cars by that time. I’ve always been an Ikea fan. I lived in nine different apartments over 15 years before moving into my home, and every single one of those places had an abundance of Ikea furnishings. But the latest thing from Ikea that’s been catching my eye isn’t the new bold blue shade for the Billy bookcase, but the brand’s expanded and upgraded smart home gear. Ikea announced last year that its new lineup of smart home gadgets would be entirely Matter-compatible. That’s a big deal, as the open source interoperability standard has Amazon, Apple, and Google signed up, meaning these devices will play well with Alexa, Siri, and Google’s nameless voice assistant. While some of this gear has been available for a little while, much of the lineup—like the newest light bulbs and smart plugs—is new. These are now some of the most affordable smart home gadgets available, and from my experience, they also some of the best when it comes to ease of setup and price. Jack White is coming back to the desert. The rock star was added as a surprise act for Coachella for this weekend, with the music festival announcing White’s set in a post revealing the performance times for weekend one. White’s not the first veteran star to get added to Coachella’s lineup for a surprise set in the past few years. Last year, both Weezer and Ed Sheeran were brought onto the bill to play the Mojave stage at 3 p.m. for weekend one and two, respectively, the same stage and time slot White will take on this year. Arcade Fire was a last-minute addition back in 2022. White is a Coachella veteran, with his band, The White Stripes, playing the festival back in 2003, while he headlined as a solo artist back in 2015 as well. White’s set comes a week after he released a pair of singles — “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” and “Derecho Demonico”— on Friday, a day before he served as musical guest on Saturday Night Live while Jack Black was …
