Ali Khamenei, 86, was assassinated in a joint US-Israeli airstrike on February 28, which triggered the Iran war with the US — with his son subsequently appointed as his successor. The cleric’s remains have yet to be interred, breaking with longstanding tradition, according to the New York Post. A security expert has now claimed that the delay stems from Tehran being too fearful to proceed with the burial. The last state funeral for his predecessor, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, in 1989 saw millions of Iranians pour into the streets of Tehran in mourning — yet similar shows of grief for Khamenei were largely absent throughout weeks of airstrikes across Iran that claimed many of the regime’s most senior figure. Pope Leo Says ‘I Am Not Afraid Of Trump’ – Amid War Of Words Over Iran Conflict

Pope Leo Says ‘I Am Not Afraid Of Trump’ – Amid War Of Words Over Iran Conflict

An open public clash between the Pope and President Trump was perhaps bound to happen given the Vatican’s increasingly vocal criticism and condemnation of US military action in the Middle East. The Vatican has been consistently anti-war especially going back to the Iraq invasion and US occupation under the Bush administration.  While recent years and decades have seen successive popes move a bit leftward on general matters of moral theology (particularly the last one, Pope Francis), the irony is that it now happens to be an American pope who is subject of immense criticism in Washington. Trump had unleashed a tirade against Pope Leo XIV on Sunday night, calling him “WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy” and charging him with “catering to the Radical Left.” The lengthy Truth Social post was issued by Trump one day after the Chicago-born pontiff stated during a prayer vigil for peace what he characterized as a “delusion of omnipotence” during the Iran war. To review, here are the highlights of what Trump said: Trump criticized the pope on matters including the Catholic Church’s …

Violet Grohl isn’t afraid of or bothered by the ‘nepo baby’ label

Violet Grohl isn’t worried about being labelled a nepo baby. The 19-year-old musician is the daughter of Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, but Violet Grohl isn’t bothered by suggestions that she’s achieving success on the back of her dad’s fame. In a new interview with music magazine The Forty-Five, Violet Grohl shared: “Obviously, doors are open for me because of my last name. It’s not something I’m ever going to hide behind or say, ‘No, I worked so hard for this! You guys shouldn’t say that! That hurts my feelings’. I don’t care – I really don’t.” Violet Grohl has faced the accusations for years, and she doesn’t allow it to bother her. She said: “I’ve heard that since I was 13 years old. So call me a nepo baby all you want. It’s ‘whatever’ to me. I just hope that eventually people will give me a shot.” Violet Grohl also appreciates the privileges she enjoys in her life. She shared: “I’m beyond grateful for the life that I was born into. “It’s such …

‘This is about people’s livelihoods’: how surging tool thefts are leaving tradespeople penniless and afraid | Crime

If you’re on social media and have even a passing interest in home improvement, there’s a good chance you will have seen Kevin Tingley’s work. The 39-year-old decorator is known as Paint Warrior – and has millions of followers across TikTok and Instagram. He’s in demand, highly skilled, generous in sharing tips from his many years of experience and even has his own range of products on sale in the UK and the US. But even with his social media army and branded brushes, he’s still not immune to the biggest threat faced by British tradespeople: tool theft. “It was Boxing Day morning,” Tingley says. “I was still in bed, my wife was on her way to the gym. She came running back in and told me that all the doors of my van were open.” He immediately knew what that meant – he’d been “done”. Tingley ran outside to see the doors of his van bent out of shape, with the bulk of his tools missing and the bits that remained strewn across his …

Lisa Kudrow Says Actresses are Afraid They Inspired Valerie Cherish

Lisa Kudrow Says Actresses are Afraid They Inspired Valerie Cherish

Valerie Cherish is back for one more go-around. The Lisa Kudrow character, a veteran sitcom actress trying to survive Hollywood in endlessly cringey ways, returns for a third and final season of The Comeback — this time following Valerie as she stars in the first multicam written by AI. Kudrow introduced the character with the show’s first season in 2005, then revived Valerie for the second season in 2014, when she (and her iconic catchphrases) truly became a pop culture phenomenon. Though the show serves largely as a satire of entertainment industry and those who operate within it, there is some truth to it all, as Kudrow saw in Hollywood’s reception of Valerie. “In the beginning, I would go to things and actresses would come up to me — known actresses that I admired a lot — and just sort of lean in and say, ‘I’m so afraid that’s me,’” Kudrow told The Hollywood Reporter at the show’s L.A. premiere on Thursday. “I said, ‘No, of course that’s not you.’ But that’s how much Valerie …

Why Men Need Therapists Who Aren’t Afraid of Them

Why Men Need Therapists Who Aren’t Afraid of Them

The problem with therapy for many men is not that they refuse to talk. The problem is that they can quickly tell when the person listening cannot handle the truth. A man will not tell the truth to someone he believes will be triggered by it. And by “it,” I mean by his anger, his regrets, or the darker parts of his story. Before a word of technique can be used, before a single interpretation is offered, men are already asking themselves: Can this person handle what I’m about to say? Only when the answer feels like yes, does the real conversation begin. There is a phrase that gets used a lot in therapy circles: holding space. It sounds compassionate, but the phrase is often used so casually that it loses its meaning. Over the years, I’ve come to understand holding space differently. Holding space is not something a therapist does with techniques. It is something the therapist is. A client does not simply step into an office. He steps into the life of the …
