Brandt Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan, where he taught from 1977 until 2016. Prior to joining the faculty at Michigan, he held positions at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Chicago. He received his PhD at Harvard University. His fields of study include ethics, social choice theory, decision theory, philosophy of language, and metaphysics.
