Tangled Live Action Movie Adds Andor Star Diego Luna

Tangled Live Action Movie Adds Andor Star Diego Luna

Diego Luna is letting down his hair for Tangled, Walt Disney’s live-action adaptation of its 2010 animated movie. Luna has joined the project in a role created specifically for the feature, which goes before cameras in Spain in June. Australian actress Teagan Croft and Zombies star Milo Manheim lead Tangled, respectively playing Rapunzel, the curious and plucky would-be princess with magical hair, and Flynn Rider, the cocky outlaw thief who helps her escape her tower prison. The two nabbed the roles after a search on both sides of the Atlantic in December. Also on the call sheet is Kathryn Hahn, hailed for her recent works in Agatha All Along and The Studio, and who is playing the duplicitous Mother Gothel. Michael Gracey, who counts the musical biopics Better Man and The Greatest Showman among his credits, is directing the feature, which, like the original, will have big musical elements. It is unclear whether Luna, as part of the new role, will be required to sing as details on the live-action take are being kept in the castle. The original animated …

Fae-Bulous BIPOC and/or Queer Romantasies

Romantasy has kind of always been a thing, but there was just something about officially putting the portmanteau together that really made the subgenre take off in the last few years. And I mean really take off—some of the most popular and bestselling books are romantasies, and books that cater to this popularity are being released left and right. Which is great! Romantasy has a very dedicated following, both online and off, but it does feel at times like the genre suffers from what many other genres suffer from: a lack of diversity. Scrolling through the latest #romantasy books on BookTok, you’ll find plenty of delicious enemies-to-lovers or grumpy-sunshine pairings, but if you are hoping to find something with a different mythological basis for the magic system, or queer love interests, things can get a little tricky, which is why task #9 of the 2026 Read Harder Challenge is “Read a romantasy book with a queer and/or BIPOC main …

Game of Thrones movie tipped to be in development from Andor writer

Game of Thrones movie tipped to be in development from Andor writer

Is Game of Thrones finally heading to the big screen? The smash hit HBO franchise, which began with the main series and spawned prequels House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has long been rumoured to be getting the cinematic treatment. Page Six Hollywood now reports that former House of Cards showrunner and Andor writer Beau Willimon has already submitted a draft of the script to Warner Bros Discovery (the owners of HBO), who are apparently pleased with it. A source speaking to the publication suggests that the film would explore the conquering of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros by Aegon I Targaryen, dubbed ‘The Conqueror’ in the lore of Westeros. “All of ‘Game of Thrones’ stems back to him, and you’ve never seen him on any of the shows,” the source noted. However, the main issue that leaves the project uncertain going ahead will be the current acquisition plans by Paramount to take over Warner Bros Discovery, which is tipped to see streaming services HBO Max and Paramount+ merge. While …

Andor creator addresses Star Wars’ lack of risks and reported rift from The Mandalorian boss

Andor creator addresses Star Wars’ lack of risks and reported rift from The Mandalorian boss

Andor creator Tony Gilroy has given a candid new interview, where he addressed recent criticism of the Star Wars franchise and rumours that new Lucasfilm boss Dave Filoni didn’t enjoy his series. The screenwriter, previously known for the Bourne trilogy and legal drama Michael Clayton, first travelled to a galaxy far, far away for 2016’s Rogue One, and went on to oversee Disney’s acclaimed prequel series. Despite a warm reception from critics and fans, Andor remains an outlier in the wider Star Wars canon, which is more focused on family-friendly fare such as The Mandalorian & Grogu and Skeleton Crew. Indeed, some fans have questioned whether Disney is too risk-averse in its reliance on fan service and familiarity, particularly after the scrapping of an intriguing Ben Solo pitch by Adam Driver and prolific director Steven Soderbergh (Black Bag). The Hollywood Reporter asked Gilroy if he was “disappointed” that the future of Star Wars may not capitalise on the promise of Andor’s mature, gritty storytelling. Want to see this content? The path to the Death Star is paved with lies: On “Andor,” as on Earth, disinformation defeats truth

The path to the Death Star is paved with lies: On “Andor,” as on Earth, disinformation defeats truth

Two years is not very long, especially when you suspect your time is running out. This is how much time the people of Ghorman have to wake up to the inevitability of their destruction — two years, which translates to eight episodes in “Andor” terms. This is also how long it takes for the Empire to persuade enough of the galaxy to believe that 800,000 Ghorman citizens deserve to be displaced or eradicated. As Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) head Major Partagaz (Anton Lesser) mentions in “One Year Later,” the second season premiere, this is no easy task. Ghorman, Partagaz warns, is not without political power. As for why that is, he doesn’t say. Instead, series creator and showrunner Tony Gilroy shows us, in what appears to be a tourism film, that Ghorman is a cosmopolitan fashion mecca reminiscent of Paris. People dream of visiting, and if not that, owning clothing made of its famous fabric, woven from fiber spun by spiders. But the Empire needs a mineral in the planet’s soil that not even its people, …
