A woman turned herself in after being investigated over videos allegedly showing sexually abusing a dog. Kristiina Kennedy, 45, was charged with sexual assault of an animal (creating/distributing pornography), and sexual assault of an animal, according to Meriden Police Department, in Connecticut, USA. The Special Crimes Unit, along with Meriden Animal Control, began investigating the sexual abuse of a dog on April 6 and issued a warrant for Kennedy’s arrest before she turned herself in on April 29. Local media reports the investigation began after a woman reported that her friend received multiple text messages from Kennedy showing disturbing videos of animals. According to WTNH, Kennedy had allegedly sent three videos of herself sexually harassing what appeared to be a Pit bull cross-type dog. The videos were subsequently forwarded to a police officer who began an investigation. A former aide to Rep. Eric Swalwell, a top Democratic candidate for governor of California, told the San Francisco Chronicle that she had sexual encounters with him when he was her boss and alleged that he twice sexually assaulted her when she was too intoxicated to consent. A Cal State Channel Islands professor said he is feeling a sense of “righteous indignation” after a federal jury acquitted him Thursday of charges that he hurled a tear gas canister at Border Patrol agents last summer during a protest against a sweeping immigration raid at a Southern California cannabis farm. A federal jury in downtown Los Angeles found Jonathan Caravello, 38, a U.S. citizen and lecturer in Cal State Channel Islands’ math and philosophy department, not guilty of one count of assault on a federal officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, according to prosecutors. Caravello said he declined a plea deal early in the process. “I knew I didn’t assault anyone and wasn’t going to take a plea,” he said. A man has been found guilty of assaulting a woman after Donald Trump’s youngest son told UK police that he saw her being attacked on a video call. Barron Trump, 19, was in the US when he told a 999 call handler that a woman was “getting beat up” in London, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard. Prosecutors said 22-year-old Russian national Matvei Rumiantsev was jealous of her friendship with the US president‘s son, possibly because of his “public profile”. He was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm between 17 and 18 January last year, and perverting the course of justice, after he wrote to the victim from prison asking her to withdraw her allegations. But Rumiantsev was cleared by the jury of rape and intentional strangulation relating to the same date when Mr Trump made his report to police, and another count of rape and assault alleged to have occurred in November 2024. Former Labour MP Conor McGinn has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman in 2022. The 41-year-old, from Lambeth, south London, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on February 27 to face one count of sexual assault. London’s Burning star John Alford has been jailed for eight-and-a-half years for sexually assaulting two girls while they were drunk. The 54-year-old attacked them at a friend’s home in Hertfordshire in April 2022 after a night at the pub. The trial heard he bought food, alcohol and cigarettes from a petrol station in the early hours, including a bottle of vodka which the victims drank. Actor Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a ride-share driver in Los Angeles, police said. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said the London-born Canadian actor entered a ride share vehicle at around 12.15am on Monday in Hollywood (8.15am UK time), where he allegedly “physically assaulted the driver, and made criminal threats”. Sutherland was later released after posting a $50,000 (£37,300) bond, and is due to appear in court on 2 February. Police said the driver was not injured in the alleged incident at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. The LAPD’s Hollywood division is investigating.
