If you’re a YouTube creator, you can now create a digital twin with YouTube’s new avatar clone tool. It uses your likeness to create an avatar that can be featured in YouTube Shorts without you ever setting foot in front of the camera again.  “Avatars create a digital version of yourself so you can generate videos that look and sound like you, safely and securely,” Google writes in a post.  When asked about safeguards the app has in place to protect your likeness when using the feature, a Google spokesperson said: “Only the user themselves can create and control their avatar. No one else can use it. If videos are opt-ed in to remix, then other users can remix a video with the avatar but they cannot control or change the avatar itself.” If you delete the avatar, your selfie video and voice recording data for that avatar is permanently removed from YouTube.  “Only you can use your avatar to create original videos, you can delete it at any time, and all output is labeled as …

Removing one time charges and costs, earnings were $1.63 per share. That’s better than the $1.57 per share that analysts polled by Zacks Investment Research expected. Disney, based in Burbank, California, reported revenue of $25.98 billion. Wall Street was calling for slightly higher revenue of $25.99 billion. It’s official, Academy award winner Zoe Saldaña is the highest-grossing actor of all time following the box office success of Avatar: Fire and Ash, which has earned over $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office (and counting). Reprising her role as fierce Na’vi warrior Neytiri has resulted in Saldaña’s impressive achievement, surpassing Scarlett Johansson who gained the top spot last year after her appearance in Jurassic World Rebirth. Saldaña’s work across the three Avatar movies has certainly boosted her up the rankings, with the original 2009 instalment still being the highest-grossing film of all-time, even 17 years after its release, earning over $2.92 billion globally according to Box Office Mojo. Meanwhile, 2022’s highly-anticipated sequel, The Way of Water, raked in $2.34 billion, making it the third highest-grossing film of all-time behind Avengers: Endgame in second place (which Saldaña also stars in) with $2.7 billion. Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to continue its box office streak over this sleepy January weekend, landing at No. 1 for the fourth weekend in a row. The James Cameron franchise installment is coming in well ahead of the weekend’s new releases: Paramount horror Primate and Lionsgate’s Greenland 2: Migration. Avatar has earned an estimated $5 million in ticket sales on Friday and is expected to pull in over $20 million at the domestic box office. While not performing as well as the first two Avatar films, Fire and Ash easily cleared the global $1 billion mark after three weekends in cinemas. For its part, Primate is opening at over 2,900 locations, heading to an estimated $11 million weekend after earning $4.5 million on Friday. After a bumpy 2025, the new year is off to a good start at the domestic box office, thanks to a varied menu of holiday titles that moviegoers are continuing to feast on before schools and college resume and extended work vacations end. Indeed, New Year’s weekend revenue looks to be a post-pandemic best.
