Bride and groom tribe! The Bachelor alum Sarah Trott and her fiancé, Grant Fisher, are redefining pre-wedding traditions with a joint bachelor and bachelorette celebration in the Caribbean. Ahead of their summer wedding in Italy, the couple gathered 13 of their closest friends and family for a multi-day getaway from April 15 through April 20, island-hopping from St. Barths to Anguilla. Among those in attendance were Lauren Gabele, Ryan Fisher, and Cameron Roady. The Bachelorette already took a break before Taylor Frankie Paul’s season was shelved three days before it was set to premiere on March 22. ABC and producers Warner Bros. had high hopes for the 22nd season that was set to star the breakout reality star from sibling Hulu’s reality hit, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The crossover casting was supposed to bring in a new audience following a ratings decline and the female-led cycle taking a season off in 2025 following Jenn Tran’s 21st season. All of that changed, of course, when the network made the decision to scrap Paul’s already-filmed season entirely following the release of a damning video connected to her 2023 domestic violence arrest, and amid investigations into new claims of alleged domestic incidents involving Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. Later, in April, The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office decided not to file charges related to the new incidents. ABC and Warner Horizon, the network and studio behind The Bachelor franchise, knew about Taylor Frankie Paul‘s guilty plea on a 2023 assault charge when they hired her to lead season 22 of The Bachelorette. The incident involving her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen was, after all, a story point in the very first episode of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the Hulu reality show that brought Paul and her fellow “MomTok” influencers a much larger degree of fame than they previously had on social media. The case initially carried charges of domestic violence in the presence of a child and misdemeanor child abuse, both of which were dropped in exchange for Paul’s guilty plea to aggravated assault. News reports from the time indicate that police saw video footage of the altercation and that it showed Paul’s then-5-year-old daughter was struck when she threw a metal chair at Mortensen. Former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay doesn’t think the Bachelor franchise can survive Taylor Frankie Paul’s domestic violence controversy.  During a Thursday taping of the Bachelor Party podcast, the former franchise lead learned of ABC’s decision to pull The Bachelorette season 22 after a video leaked of Paul, depicting the events that led to her 2023 arrest.  Lindsay cut her two co-hosts off to share the news, admitting she had “chills.” She also explained that she thought the season was “over” after the video was released.  “I think it’s over. I was trying to think of a scenario where it could be different. Because this isn’t just, ‘Oh, we put it all on a person. This person did this.’ This is the system that allowed this to happen,” she said. “The name Bachelorette, Bachelor is tainted at this point. How do you move forward past that? In the very first episode of Mormon Wives, footage is shown of Paul’s February 2023 arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief, and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child. (She pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, while the remaining charges were dismissed. Under the plea agreement, Paul was ordered to undergo a substance abuse evaluation and a domestic violence evaluation, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.) Paul and Mortensen welcomed their first child together, her third, in March 2024. While appearing on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast to announce her Bachelorette casting, Paul said the charges relating to that dispute were dropped. Color me shocked. Gerry Turner, the 72-year-old star of “The Golden Bachelor,” a grown man who intentionally agreed to star in one of the most popular reality TV franchises . . . was not entirely honest about his past? Do you mean to tell me that, contrary to his claim that he hadn’t dated in 45 years, he actually did? Are you saying that the producers might have stretched the truth when it came to characterizing his career history? My stars. We may never believe in TV-manufactured romance again. Sarcasm aside, it’s kind of incredible that “The Bachelor” franchise is being yanked back into this same doghouse for another mild imbroglio, this time courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter.
