Paddington Bear to Present at 2026 BAFTA Film Awards

Paddington Bear to Present at 2026 BAFTA Film Awards

As BAFTA gears up for the U.K. film industry’s biggest night on Sunday, it’s only right that it should add a fixture of British cinema to the exclusive guest list. BAFTA said on Thursday that none other than Paddington Bear will be in attendance at the 2026 Film Awards this weekend, where he will present the award for best children & family film. Four nominees make up this category: Arco, Boong, Lilo & Stitch and Zootropolis 2. Paddington’s inclusion has no doubt been helped by the success of Paddington The Musical, currently running at London’s Savoy Theatre, where performer Arti Shah plays the beloved character on stage in a bear suit, while James Hameed provides the voice and operates animatronic facial expressions from off-stage. Paddington joins a host of recently-announced presenters at the BAFTA Film Awards, including Aimee Lou Wood, Bryan Cranston, Cillian Murphy, David Jonsson, Delroy Lindo, Gillian Anderson, Glenn Close, Olivia Cooke, Patrick Dempsey, Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Hudson, Miles Caton, Kate Hudson, Emily Watson, and Stellan Skargård. KPop Demon Hunters singing …

‘Sinners’ Is Most-Nominated Film by a Black Director in BAFTA History

Sinners continues to break records this awards season. The Hollywood Reporter received confirmation on Wednesday that Ryan Coogler set a new BAFTA record this week as his vampire horror became the most-nominated film by a Black director in the British Academy’s history. The news comes hot on the heels of Sinners‘ Academy record — last week the Warner Bros. feature earned the most Oscar nominations ever with an eye-watering 16. THR took a look at how duo Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo saved the Brits from their first Oscars shut-out in 40 years by securing acting nominations. And as the BAFTA nods poured in this week, the movie racked up an impressive 13 in total, just one behind its Warner Bros. stablemate One Battle After Another. Sinners earned BAFTA Film Awards nominations for best director (Coogler), leading actor (Michael B. Jordan), supporting actress (Wunmi Mosaku), original screenplay, casting, cinematography, editing, original score, costume design, make-up & hair, production design, and sound. The record comes as BAFTA continues to improve its diversity outreach — 25 percent of nominated …

Chase Infiniti, Miles Caton Score 2026 Nods

The BAFTA Rising Star Award nominees are in, and Hollywood talents Chase Infiniti and Miles Caton are among the up-and-coming actors to watch. Three Brits line up alongside them: Robert Aramayo for his lead performance in Kirk Jones’ I Swear, a biographical drama about a Scot with Tourette’s syndrome, Saltburn‘s Archie Madekwe, who this year co-starred in Alex Russell’s psychological thriller Lurker, and Posy Sterling, a British Independent Film Award winner for Daisy-May Hudson’s Lollipop. Infiniti is, of course, the star of Paul Thomas Anderson’s political thriller One Battle After Another — so far the major winner this awards season — and tipped for an Oscar nod for her performance as Willa. Caton has impressed the industry with his first film role in Ryan Coogler’s slick vampire horror Sinners opposite Michael B. Jordan, which took home the Golden Globe for box office achievement on Sunday. The nominees for the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award, now in its 21st year, were unveiled at London’s Savoy Hotel on Wednesday with Aramayo, Madekwe and Sterling in attendance. It is the …
