Arsenal FC: Can Gabriel be retrospectively banned for headbutt on Erling Haaland?

Arsenal FC: Can Gabriel be retrospectively banned for headbutt on Erling Haaland?

Arsenal defender Gabriel avoided a straight red card against Manchester City on Sunday in a potentially decisive referee decision in the Premier League title race. Gabriel and Haaland have clashed previously, including when the striker bounced a football off the defender’s head when celebrating a goal, but on Sunday it turned more vicious. Amid the melee, Gabriel had ripped Haaland’s undershirt, which required replacing after the striker had finished celebrating. Gabriel vs Erling Haaland PA Shortly afterwards, the pair faced off again, forehead to forehead, but this time Gabriel moved to headbutt his opponent, who remained unmoved. A headbutt is typically considered violent conduct, which results in a straight red card and an automatic three-game ban. However, referee Anthony Taylor instead showed both players a yellow card, and VAR did not intervene to suggest upgrading to a red for Gabriel. But is Gabriel out of the woods yet? Can Gabriel be retrospectively banned for Erling Haaland headbutt? No. The Football Association (FA) can only retrospectively punish a player if an incident was missed by all …

In a new interview, the actor, who played Del Boy’s wife Racquel, said Only Fools’s enduring appeal is down to the writing having “so much heart”. She told The i Paper. “Some of the comedy today seems to be having a go at other people – it can be quite cruel in a way that I don’t find funny personally.” While Only Fools and Horses featured jokes made by entrepreneurial market trader Del Boy (Sir David Jason) at the expense of his hapless brother Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst), one controversial episode was “banned” for featuring a scene too “cruel” to air. ‘Only Fools and Horses’ episode was too …

Anthropic temporarily banned OpenClaw’s creator from accessing Claude

Anthropic temporarily banned OpenClaw’s creator from accessing Claude

“Yeah folks, it’s gonna be harder in the future to ensure OpenClaw still works with Anthropic models,” OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger posted on X early Friday morning, along with a photo of a message from Anthropic saying his account had been suspended over “suspicious” activity. The ban didn’t last long. A few hours later, after the post went viral, Steinberger said his account had been reinstated. Among hundreds of comments — many of them in conspiracy theory land, given that Steinberger is now employed by Anthropic rival OpenAI — was one by an Anthropic engineer. The engineer told the famed developer that Anthropic has never banned anyone for using OpenClaw and offered to help. It’s not clear if that was the key that restored the account. (We’ve asked Anthropic about it.) But the whole message string was enlightening on many levels. To recap the recent history: This ban followed news last week that subscriptions to Anthropic’s Claude would no longer cover “third-party harnesses including OpenClaw,” the AI model company said. OpenClaw users now have to …

Princess Diana’s former lady-in-waiting and loyal friend banned from driving after being caught speeding

A former lady-in-waiting of Princess Diana has been banned from driving for six months and told to pay hundreds in fines.  Anne Beckwith-Smith, 74, drove 36mph in a 30 zone in her blue Audi Q2 in Wiltshire in August 2024, Lavender Hill magistrates’ court heard this week.  Anne, who lives in South Kensington in London, was handed the ban on April 8, despite asking for an exemption on the grounds of needing to care for her older brother.  She told magistrates that removing her licence would be “rather catastrophic” as Salisbury, where her brother lives in care, has poor public transport links. When questioned by the court, she admitted there was a bus stop outside the family home and that she could afford to take taxis.  She told the court: “I apologise for wasting all your time with this, but I think it’s important to stress it would be a hardship for my brother.” Truth behind Diana’s ‘three people in this marriage’ comment However, magistrates refused her request for an exemption. She was also ordered …

Kanye West banned from UK: legal expert explains why

Kanye West banned from UK: legal expert explains why

The UK government has prevented Kanye West, legally known as Ye, from entering the UK on the grounds that his presence would not be conducive to the public good. The rapper has become notorious for a sustained range of antisemitic comments, expressing admiration for Hitler and releasing a song titled Heil Hitler. The prospect of his performing in front of 150,000 people at London’s Wireless music festival drew condemnation from government ministers, festival sponsors, Keir Starmer and the Campaign Against Antisemitism. Following the government’s confirmation that West would not be allowed to enter the UK, the festival was cancelled. Any foreign national wanting to visit the UK needs permission to do so, either in the form of a visa or an electronic travel authorisation (ETA). Both can be refused for several reasons. The UK’s immigration rules require that people who have previously breached immigration law, or been convicted of a criminal offence in the UK or overseas, are barred from entry. They rules also include wide discretionary powers for the home secretary to exclude individuals …

OpenClaw Banned: Anthropic Ends Claude Third-Party Use

Anthropic’s recent decision to ban the use of OpenClaude with its Claude subscriptions has sparked widespread discussion among users and industry observers. According to Prompt Engineering, this policy shift stems from technical challenges, particularly disruptions to Anthropic’s prompt caching mechanisms caused by third-party integrations. These disruptions have led to increased compute costs, making it difficult for the company to sustain its subsidized subscription model. While users can still access Claude services through API keys, the ban underscores Anthropic’s focus on maintaining operational efficiency and fair resource distribution. Explore how this decision reflects broader trends in the AI industry, including the move toward tighter control over third-party integrations. You’ll gain insight into how Anthropic is addressing user concerns through measures like refunds and API usage credits, as well as the implications for workflows reliant on OpenClaude. 7 surprising words the royal family are banned from using

The idea of meeting a member of the royal family is a daunting one. With strict protocols in place and an emphasis on the correct etiquette, it’s hard to know what the right thing to say is – and, it turns out, there are some words best avoided if you are speaking to King Charles or the Princess of Wales.  Social anthropologist Kate Fox, author of Watching the English: The Hidden Rules of English Behaviour, has studied the linguistic quirks of the upper classes, and identified a list of verbal dos and don’ts when speaking to a royal. Let’s take a look… Kate Fox has identified some dos and don’ts when speaking to the British royals © Samir Hussein/WireImage ‘Pardon’ As children, we were taught that ‘pardon’ was the politest response if we’d misheard someone – but that’s not the case in royal circles.  Instead, they will simply say ‘Sorry?’ or ‘What?’ if they wish the speaker to repeat themselves. © Getty Images ‘Posh’ It’s a word that most of us would use to describe …

Wikipedia Editors Tried and Tried to Work With AI Content, Eventually Realized It Was Total Trash and Banned It Entirely

Wikipedia Editors Tried and Tried to Work With AI Content, Eventually Realized It Was Total Trash and Banned It Entirely

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales once described his creation as a “temple of the mind.” Now, a decade on, it’s taken on another role: a refuge against AI slop. Late this month, the English version of the online encyclopedia officially banned the use of AI to generate or rewrite articles, after years of piecemeal experimentation and heated internal debate among its volunteer editors, 404 Media reports. That debate finally came to a vote on March 20, which ended in an overwhelming 40-to-2 decision to place heavy restrictions on how large language models are used to maintain the site. “Text generated by large language models (LLMs) often violates several of Wikipedia’s core content policies,” the new policy states. “For this reason, the use of LLMs to generate or rewrite article content is prohibited, save for the exceptions given below.” As the exceptions stipulate, it’s not a wholesale ban on AI: “Editors are permitted to use LLMs to suggest basic copyedits …
