Woman barred from Edinburgh flight after ‘distressing’ conversation at passport desk
A woman was stranded in Dusseldorf after her return flight to Edinburgh was blocked over a Home Office admin error. Liza Tobay was told her settled status had been “red flagged” when she tried to connect in Munich, in Germany, on a departing flight back to the capital. Liza, a German woman, was separated from her three-year-old daughter in Edinburgh as a result. The German national had taken her eldest child, aged six, to visit relatives over Easter. While trying to connect in Germany, Liza was informed at the passport control desk her settled status had been “red flagged”, reports Birmingham Live. Speaking to the Guardian, Liza: “I started to panic and my son started to cry. “It is the first time he’s been away for five days without his dad, so he’s been homesick already and could sense something wasn’t right.” Liza said she was unable to sleep or eat due to the ordeal and worried about being away from her young daughter for the first time.
