BBC’s Jeremy Bowen Delivers Damning Verdict On Trump’s Decision To Bomb Iran

President Donald Trump arrives for an event with small business leaders, Monday, May 4, 2026, in the East Room at the White House in Washington. (AP Photo/Mark Schiefelbein) via Associated Press Donald Trump is now paying the price of going to war with Iran “without thinking through the consequences”, a senior BBC journalist has declared. Jeremy Bowen, the corporation’s international affairs editor, also warned that the US president’s attempts to re-open the Strait of Hormuz could see a return to all-out war. His comments came as Iran’s foreign minister warned that America could be “dragged back into quagmire”. Trump launched “Project Freedom” at the weekend, vowing that the United States would “guide” stranded ships through the Strait, which has been effectively closed by Iranian attacks since the war began. That has led to a spike in oil prices and triggered fears of a global economic crisis. Two US-flagged ships are reported to have passed through the key waterway. However, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – a Gulf ally of the US – said a tanker …

Trump tells lies, says BBC’s Jeremy Bowen

The BBC’s international editor has called Donald Trump a liar in a lengthy on-air monologue. In an 11-minute essay on Radio 4’s flagship Today programme, Jeremy Bowen was given free rein to warn that the US president is “making it up as he goes along” in his war on Iran. He said: “Perhaps analysts and commentators have let their distaste for Donald Trump cloud their judgment. Maybe it doesn’t matter that he insults allies whose soldiers fought and died alongside Americans in other Middle Eastern wars, or that sometimes he tells lies.” He referred to the US president’s claim that Iran could have been responsible for a deadly missile strike on a girls’ school in the south of the country. “He claimed that Iran could have fired a Tomahawk missile in the attack on a school that Iran says killed more than 165 people, including many schoolgirls. Iran doesn’t have Tomahawk missiles,” Bowen said. Jeremy Bowen says it’s important to call out ‘not just an exaggeration but a barefaced lie’ He went on: “Donald Trump …

Chloé Zhao, Bowen Yang and More Honored at 2026 Unforgettable Awards

Character Media and GoldenTV celebrated a year in entertainment and culture at its annual Unforgettable Awards. The event — which celebrates Asian and Pacific Islander excellence in film, TV and culture — took place Saturday at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, bringing out a slew of big-name honorees including Hamnet director Chloé Zhao, Saturday Night Live alum Bowen Yang and KPop Demon Hunters voice actors Arden Cho and Ji-young Yoo. GoldenTV CEO Takashi Cheng kicked off the event before jumping into the awards. Beef season two star Charles Melton presented Zhao with the global icon award. The actor gave a moving introduction to the director, recalling a conversation the two had when Melton told her that he hadn’t fully grasped Shakespearean prose and sharing how needed Zhao is to the world as a storyteller. “We need her films. We need her voice. We need her way,” he told the crowd. “Chloé Zhao for president,” he joked, getting a cheer from the audience. Zhao gave Melton a long hug after taking the stage. “You …

Bowen Yang, Matt Rogers apologize for saying listeners shouldn’t donate to Crockett campaign

Bowen Yang, Matt Rogers apologize for saying listeners shouldn’t donate to Crockett campaign

In a series of social media posts over the weekend, comedians Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers apologized for their comments on the Senate campaign of Rep. Jasmine Crockett. The hosts of the “Las Culturistas” podcast discouraged their listeners from donating to the Texas Democrat’s campaign in their most recent episode, which touched on Democratic politics and the 2028 presidential election. Crockett announced a bid to be the Democratic nominee in December. “Any time a politician is making it too obviously about themselves, I’m already done,” Rogers said. “And don’t waste your money sending to Jasmine Crockett. Do not do it.” Later in the episode, Rogers gave his reasoning. “She’s not going to win a Senate seat in Texas, you guys. If Beto O’Rourke couldn’t do it, Jasmine Crockett is not going to to do it,” he said. “It’s nothing against her… [She is] very well defined already.” “I’m interested in this Talarico guy from Texas. I haven’t seen him before. It would be hard for them to define him as anything other than what he …

Bowen Yang Explains Why He Left Saturday Night Live With Just 2 Words

Bowen Yang has finally explained why he bowed out of Saturday Night Live. On Wednesday’s episode of his podcast Las Culturistas, which he co-hosts with his friend, comedian Matt Rogers, the Wicked actor got frank about his surprising exit from the long-running sketch show after seven seasons. “This is honestly what’s behind it: It’s time,” he said, a little over five minutes into the episode. “You would do seven seasons, and then you would scoot.” Bowen Yang attends the 5th Annual Academy Museum Gala at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Oct. 18, 2025, in Los Angeles. Frazer Harrison via Getty Images Bowen continued: “[After Covid], the current media landscape, the current entertainment ecosystem, is so turbulent that people have completely valid reasons for staying longer. Or, in a lot of cases, don’t have the privilege of staying on as long as they would like to. “I have this very beautiful thing where I get to say that I stayed on exactly as long as I wanted to.” But he almost left the show …

Marcello Hernández Reacts to Bowen Yang’s ‘SNL’ Exit

Marcello Hernández is sharing his thoughts after his former Saturday Night Live co-star Bowen Yang exited the NBC sketch comedy series at the end of last year. Hernández, who has been on the SNL since 2022, was asked by The Hollywood Reporter at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday what it was like seeing the Wicked actor leave. “He’s a guy that I’ve seen work so hard and he put up numbers,” he said. “You know, if this was a team, he’d be one of those guys that had a great career, and I’m excited to see what he does next. And he’s the man. Everybody loves him. You know, I’m one of those people.” Yang, who first joined SNL as a writer in 2018 before joining the cast the following year, had his final episode on Dec. 20, which was the Christmas episode hosted by his friend and Wicked: For Good co-star, Ariana Grande. THR also asked Hernández what projects he wants to take on outside of SNL. In addition to his first Netflix special, releasing …

Bowen Yang Departs ‘SNL’ With Heartfelt Skit

Bowen Yang Departs ‘SNL’ With Heartfelt Skit

Bowen Yang has clocked out from his final Saturday Night Live shift. Yang said goodbye to the sketch comedy series with a heartfelt sketch where he played a Delta employee working his last shift. While helping customers at the eggnog station, he said, “Oh, sorry, my machine’s kind of breaking down, so I’m closing my station. This is my last shift.” “Yeah, it’s sad. I’m gonna miss everything about this place. The smells, celebrities would come through. You know, just last week, Josh O’Connor was here,” he joked. (O’Connor hosted SNL‘s Dec. 13 installment, which aired a week prior.) Yang got on the phone with Ariana Grande‘s (who hosted the episode) character Rhonda, who said, “I wish you were home, but I’m so proud of you. All the eggnog you’ve made over the years. Some of it was great, some of it was rotten.” He replied, “A lot of it got cut.” “You know, I also think Eggnog’s kind of like me,” Yang said, continuing, “It’s not for everyone, but the people who like it …

Bowen Yang Leaves ‘Saturday Night Live’ in a Swirl of Red Wine, Cocaine, and Tears

Bowen Yang Leaves ‘Saturday Night Live’ in a Swirl of Red Wine, Cocaine, and Tears

Yang made his debut as a member of the cast on the first episode of season 45, with Vanity Fair’s Karen Valby noting then that “the show’s first East Asian cast member was saddled with a dispiriting first line of ‘Wazzzzzzup!’ as Kim Jong Un, whom [once and future president Donald Trump] called for advice on getting rid of whistleblowers.” But Yang quickly hit his stride, creating iconic characters such as Chinese trade rep Chen Biao, whose line “a tariff is like a tax, but it’s a little bit bitchy” was a chillingly prescient quip when uttered in 2019. With Yang’s Wicked and Wicked: For Good castmate Grande in the host slot for the third time Saturday, his decision to make the last SNL episode of 2025 his final turn already felt poetic in its symmetry. And then there was musical guest Cher, whom Yang had attempted to lure to the show for years. “I would do anything with her,” Yang said of the icon in 2022. Those seated in Studio 8H were clearly clued …
