Sony has spent the last few years turning BRAVIA from a TV badge into a full living-room language, with screens and speakers meant to stack into something more cohesive than a collection of haphazardly acquired components. This 2026 refresh keeps that 2024 “Cinema is coming home” thesis intact, but gives it more supporting evidence: the BRAVIA Theater Bar 5 and Bar 7 as the starting points, new Sub 7, Sub 8, Sub 9, and Rear 9 add-ons for exposition, and the BRAVIA 3 II as a mid-tier statement to build around. Slogan, meet system. See It The tiering is the point, but Sony has also made the tiers feel distinct. The BRAVIA Theater Bar 5 is the easier on-ramp: a 3.1-channel bar bundled with a wireless subwoofer, so even a simple setup lands with some chest-level thump and clearer center focus. Sony Bravia 5 Review: An Excellent Mid-Tier TV for Cinephiles

Speaking of 4K Blu-rays, this TV really showed off its excellent processing when in Movie mode and watching a recently acquired copy of Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo. The gorgeous use of light and shadow was presented without aggressive blooming, and the colors looked deep and well-saturated. A scene where the two leads face the Golden Gate Bridge looks particularly like a painting on this screen, praise that belongs to the XR chip and Sony’s excellent use of multi-zone, mini-LED backlighting. Colors were vivid, and the TV’s 120-Hz refresh rate was on full display, but not quite as heavily as when I plugged in Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro. Gran Turismo looks smooth and realistic in Gaming mode, with the variable refresh rate helping everything stay smooth, even when doing hard-to-process things like wet races in shiny cars. This screen is available in a wide variety of sizes, from 55 inches …

And if you’ve been eyeing the Bravia 8 II as an upgrade to your living room or home theater, you can grab the 65-inch model for $1,100 off right now at Best Buy.  Also: The best Sony TVs you can buy The 55-inch model is also on sale — for $1,000 off — but both sizes are still pricey, selling for over $1,000 (or more) with this discount.  I got to check out the Bravia 8 II in the ZDNET testing lab, and was very impressed with the picture quality. While you’ll get a darker screen than other OLEDs from LG and Samsung, you’ll gain the ability to fine-tune your picture settings for everything from streaming to console gaming.
