Britney Spears has been charged with drunk driving following an incident in March when the pop star was pulled over near her home in California by authorities.  The 44-year-old was formally charged by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office with driving under the combined influence of alcohol and at least one drug. Britney Spears has checked into a treatment facility following a DUI arrest last month. A rep for Spears confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the singer voluntarily entered rehab on Sunday. Spears, 44, was arrested on March 4 for driving under the influence, and then released from jail a day later in Southern California, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Britney Spears’ arrest has rocked the internet, after the pop star was taken into custody on Wednesday evening by the California Highway Patrol. The 44-year-old was seen driving “erratically” according to a spokesperson from the police, and “showed signs of impairment” before submitting to “a series of field sobriety tests”. “At approximately 8.48pm, a black BMW 430i was reported to the CHP’s Ventura Communications Center for driving erratically at a high rate of speed on southbound US-101 near the Borchard Road exit in Newbury Park,” the spokesperson explained. Britney Spears revealed that she will “never” again perform in the United States in a post shared to Instagram on Thursday. The Grammy winner, who has not toured since 2018, shared the news alongside a photo of herself sitting on stage next to a white piano. In the post’s caption, she wrote that she will not return to the stage in the U.S. due to “sensitive” matters. “I will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons,” Spears wrote. “But I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son … in the UK and Australia very soon.
