YouTuber buys stripped Tesla Model 3 ‘go-kart’ for $2,000 — it still has 212-mile range

A YouTuber bought a completely stripped-down Tesla Model 3 for just $2,000 — no body panels, no windshield, no seatbelts — and took it off-roading, drifting, and even jumping it. The wildest part? It still showed 212 miles of range on a full charge. The video, posted by Remmy Evans, is a testament to both the durability of Tesla’s drivetrain and the questionable decision-making that makes YouTube entertaining. From abandoned project to $2,000 ‘go-kart’ The story starts with a phone call. Evans gets a tip from his friend Jake about a special vehicle at Jake’s brother-in-law’s house in Idaho: a Tesla Model 3 that has been stripped down to almost nothing. The previous owner, Grayson, had purchased the Model 3 for $6,000–$7,000 with plans to transplant the drivetrain into a 1970s concept car. They even had a 3D artist render the finished design and started fitting parts, but abandoned the project after estimating it would take 800 hours to complete the body work. Evans negotiated the price down from $3,000 to $2,000, and walked away …

Yozma IN10 Review: $1200 somehow buys a 40mph ultra-capable mini electric dirtbike

Every kid between 12 and 16 wants a Sur Ron-type Emoto this summer. The market has exploded to match that demand — and for riders on the smaller end of the size and budget spectrum, it’s hard to beat the Yozma IN10. First, let’s get the spec sheet out: 2.6kW mid-drive brushless motor, 146nm torque 48V 23.4Ah Lithium battery (1.123 kWh) 40mph top speed, 53 Mile stated range (35 for both IRL) 52V 5A (256W) Charger, Charging Time 0%-100% 6 Hours Hydraulic brakes 190mm heavy-duty Suitable Height: 3.94ft – 5.9ft, Weight: Up to 265 lbs Dual adjustable hydraulic suspension Frame: High Carbon Steel, total weight: 121 lbs IPX6 waterproof Mullet Tire 14”/12” Price: $1199 at YozmaSport or Amazon I’m still scratching my head at how a 40mph eMoto now costs the same as a decent commuter e-bike. There’s a whole other story to write about what this means for urban mobility — but I’ll save that for another day. Yozma wasn’t the first E-moto to hit the near $1000 price point. Tuttio has been on …

Workhorse slashes prices by ,000 as Purolater buys 100 vans

Workhorse slashes prices by $60,000 as Purolater buys 100 vans

Commercial fleet operators scrambling to electrify in the face of rising diesel prices can buy a Workhorse W56 step van for nearly $60K less than before – and Ohio-based Purolator is taking advantage of the deal with a stout, 100-unit order. Electric fleet truck brand Workhorse first announced plans for a more affordable, 140 kWh version of its medium duty electric work truck last month. Now, the company is making the 210 kWh versions of its trucks more affordable, too, cutting $59,000 from its 178″ Standard Wheelbase and $61,000 from its 208″ Extended Wheelbase W56 vans through September. That’s a deal being made even sweeter by soaring gas and diesel prices – sweet enough, it seems, for Ohio-based delivery and logistics firm Purolator to place an order for 100 of the zero-emission box trucks. “Purolator has a longstanding commitment to adopting new and innovative technologies to make their fleet more efficient and sustainable, and we are honored to continue to support them,” said Scott Griffith, chief executive officer at Workhorse. “This is Purolator’s fourth order over a …

Portland Museum of Art Buys New Building For $14 M.

The Portland Museum of Art (PMA) in Maine closed on its purchase of a new building in the city’s downtown, as well as two adjacent parking lots late last month. The building, previously owned by MaineHealth, a major regional hospital system and the largest private employer in the state, was sold for $14 million. The plan is for the PMA to move its administrative offices to the new Free Street building, which is next door to the museum as a way to open up space for more galleries in its main building. Related Articles “This acquisition is a milestone for PMA, allowing the next generation of our institution to grow in place in the Arts District,” Marcie Parker Griswold, head of communications for the museum, said in a statement Wednesday. “Securing these neighboring properties enables us to turn a long-term vision into reality: creating a more accessible and cohesive home for the arts in the center of Portland.” The PMA is in the process of launching another, unrelated, addition to its facilities: a new wing …

Anthropic buys biotech startup Coefficient Bio in $400M deal: Reports

Anthropic has purchased the stealth biotech AI startup Coefficient Bio in a $400 million stock deal, according to The Information and Eric Newcomer. Sources close to the deal confirmed to TechCrunch that it closed, though declined to comment on the amount. The deal comes as Anthropic continues its push into healthcare and life sciences, following its October announcement of Claude for Life Sciences, a tool that aims to help scientific researchers make discoveries. Coefficient Bio’s founders, Samuel Stanton and Nathan C. Frey, launched the startup eight months ago, having both worked in computational drug discovery at Genentech’s Prescient Design. Coefficient Bio was using AI to help make drug discovery and other forms of biological research more efficient. The team, consisting of around 10 people, is expected to join Anthropic’s health and life science team. Source link

Local Resort Buys Rauschenberg’s Famed Captiva Island Property

Local Resort Buys Rauschenberg’s Famed Captiva Island Property

South Seas, a resort located on Captiva Island, off the coast of Florida, is the buyer of Robert Rauschenberg’s famed 22-acre property on the island, which had been home to one of the country’s top artist residency programs following his death. The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the steward of the namesake artist’s legacy, had announced last year that it would sell the property, which also includes about 1,000 feet of beachfront property and Rauschenberg’s 8,000-square-foot studio which he built in 1992. Related Articles The foundation said the cost to maintain the property had grown beyond what it could manage while still maintaining the other parts of its mission, citing a sustainability assessment that “confirmed that safeguarding the property would require substantial additional investment and site modifications, without ensuring the property’s long-term resilience or reducing the likelihood of future costs.” That statement added that “Robert Rauschenberg believed that change was essential to creativity.” South Seas announced the acquisition via a news release on March 31, with its president Greg Spencer saying that the property going for sale …

OpenAI Acquires Tech Talk Show TBPN—and Buys Itself Some Positive News

OpenAI Acquires Tech Talk Show TBPN—and Buys Itself Some Positive News

OpenAI announced Thursday that it had acquired the online business talk show TBPN for an undisclosed sum. The move comes as OpenAI struggles with its public image, which has taken a significant hit in recent months. Since launching in 2024, TBPN has risen in popularity among Silicon Valley circles by offering a daily live stream about the technology industry that’s seen as more tech-friendly than traditional outlets. The show’s two hosts, John Coogan and Jordi Hays, offer real-time commentary on breaking news, cycle through viral social media posts, and interview executives from companies including Meta, Salesforce, Palantir and OpenAI. It’s become especially popular among OpenAI staff and other AI researchers, many of whom are addicted to the social media platform X. It’s hard to understand how a media startup fits into OpenAI’s core businesses selling ChatGPT, Codex, and a new super app the company is developing to consumers and enterprises. Last month, OpenAI’s CEO of Applications, Fidji Simo, told staff in an all hands meeting that the company needed to cancel its side projects and …
