Charlize Theron Responds to Timothée Chalamet’s Ballet, Opera Comments

Charlize Theron Responds to Timothée Chalamet’s Ballet, Opera Comments

Charlize Theron is weighing in on Timothée Chalamet‘s earlier comments about ballet and opera, calling them “very reckless” and defending the art forms. In an interview with The New York Times published Saturday, Theron spoke about the physical and mental demands of dance while discussing her own experience. “Dance is probably one of the hardest things I ever did. Dancers are superheroes. What they put their bodies through in complete silence,” the Mad Max: Fury Road star said, prompting the reporter to joke, “Sorry, Timothée Chalamet.” “Oh, boy, I hope I run into him one day,” Theron replied. “That was a very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time. But in 10 years, AI is going to be able to do Timothée’s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live. And we shouldn’t [expletive] on other art forms.” The Hollywood Reporter reached out to Chalamet’s reps for comment, but did …

Timothée Chalamet’s Boot Game Just Got Even More Niche

Timothée Chalamet’s Boot Game Just Got Even More Niche

Timothée Chalamet loves a good boot. More specifically, he loves a good American boot–think Red Wings and Timberlands. These are big hitters. The classics everyone knows. But at CinemaCon on Tuesday, during a presentation for the upcoming Dune: Part Three, he swerved. Instead of pulling up in his usuals, the Oscar nominee went a bit deeper: a pair of Visvim Virgils that only a certain kind of fashion guy could clock instantly. The what? We hear you. Visvim isn’t exactly mainstream. Founded by Hiroki Nakamura back in the early ’00s, the Japanese label has built a rep on obsessive craftsmanship and a slightly spiritual approach to clothing: natural dyes, hand-finished details, and lots and lots of references to vintage Americana. It’s the kind of brand that doesn’t have to scream for attention. You either know it or you don’t. And if you do, you probably care a lot about things like stitch density and midsole construction. Timothée Chalamet’s Beach Essentials Include a Prada Necklace and Thom Browne Asics

Timothée Chalamet’s Beach Essentials Include a Prada Necklace and Thom Browne Asics

When it comes to the hypothetical desert-island scenario, most of us probably imagine packing for survival and sanity. (My three desert-island essentials, for example, would likely comprise a pair of crunchy hiking shoes, a machete, and a fat, parable-filled tome à la Edith Hamilton’s Mythology or, simply, the Bible.) But if you’re Timothée Chalamet, on a pseudo-ultra-private beach getaway with his partner of three years, Kylie Jenner, those proverbial essentials take on a different utility. In a 17-slide gallery posted to Instagram yesterday, the Dune star showed off a series of snaps from the couple’s recent trip, the itinerary of which appeared to include running on white sand, jetskiing, and, per his Instagram stories, listening to “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac. Judging from the contents of this post, Chalamet’s desert-island musts include a dainty Prada triangle-logo chain necklace, black board shorts, and a pair of Thom Browne-branded Asics sneakers (which, by the way, debuted on the GQ Bowl runway last month). Admittedly, this trio of items would not be great for facing forces of nature …

Timothée Chalamet’s Oscar looks over the years

Timothée Chalamet’s Oscar looks over the years

This may finally be the year that Timothée Chalamet brings home an Academy Award. The 30-year-old actor is nominated for his third Oscar at the 98th Academy Awards for his role in Marty Supreme. Heading into awards season, Timothée was a front runner, winning Best Actor at the Critics Choice Awards and a Golden Globe. But after a clip of the actor dismissing ballet and opera went viral, his chances have gone down a bit. In a conversation with Matthew McConaughey, Timothée said: “I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera, or you know, things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive,’ even though it’s like, no one cares about this anymore,” before adding: “All respect to the ballet and opera people out there.” Regardless, Timothée is headed to the Oscars and hoping to take home the big prize. And every time he’s attended the award show, he’s shown up in style. Before the 98th Academy Awards, let’s take a trip down memory lane at the actor’s looks to Oscars events in …

Timothée Chalamet’s Favorite Red-Carpet Watch Never Gets Old

Timothée Chalamet’s Favorite Red-Carpet Watch Never Gets Old

Back in June 2025, members of the press, collectors, and industry insiders gathered in Los Angeles to celebrate the rebirth of a brand whose name—if we’re being frank—was known only to the nerdiest of watch nerds. Born 250 years ago in Copenhagen, Danish watchmaker Urban Jürgensen was by all accounts a brilliant horologist. Having studied under Abraham-Louis Breguet and John Arnold, he set up his own business and published an important treatise on watchmaking by the age of 28. By the time of his death, he had supplied marine chronometers to the Royal Danish Navy and become the very first tradesman invited to join the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences. Jürgensen’s eponymous marque continued, passed through successive generations of family members and enterprising outsiders, until being purchased by the Rosenfield family in 2021. Tapping Finnish master watchmaker Kari Voutilainen as co-CEO, the company relaunched with a trio of new models: The UJ-3 perpetual calendar with instantaneous moon phase; the UJ-2 three-hander with double-wheel natural escapement; and the UJ-1 250th anniversary watch, a modern interpretation of …

Timothée Chalamet’s First Step on the Road to an EGOT Might Happen at the Grammys

Timothée Chalamet’s First Step on the Road to an EGOT Might Happen at the Grammys

Timothée Chalamet has already picked up a Golden Globe earlier this month for his performance in Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, and he’s the odds-on favorite to collect a Best Actor statuette for his work in that film at the Academy Awards in March. But if things break Chalamet’s way at the 2026 Grammy Awards this Sunday, he could also move one step closer to another, even-more-elusive show-business honor—the unofficial-yet-coveted elite-status grand slam known informally as the EGOT. That acronym, of course, is short for “Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony.” Depending on whether you count non-competitive awards (e.g., honorary Oscars and the like), there are either 21 or 27 people in the history of the entertainment business who’ve reached EGOT status; the list of living EGOT-holders includes Mel Brooks, Elton John, Whoopi Goldberg, Viola Davis. and John Legend. This Hollywood Reporter story identifies 60 other performers who as of last fall only needed one more show-business Infinity Gem to complete the quadfecta, including Common, Adele, and Cher, all of whom are a mere one Tony Award short …

Miyako Bellizzi Wanted Timothée Chalamet’s ‘Marty Supreme’ Costumes to Be “Almost Delusional”

Miyako Bellizzi Wanted Timothée Chalamet’s ‘Marty Supreme’ Costumes to Be “Almost Delusional”

Marty Supreme is stuffed with street kids, working stiffs, midcentury aristocrats, and world-class athletes, all clad in crisp, period-accurate garb. From Marty’s boxy zoot suits to Mafia-adjacent Ezra Mishkin’s patterned tie, each garment signals who these people are, the worlds they inhabit, and what they aspire to be. Bringing that density to life was a monumental undertaking. For the film, costume designer Miyako Bellizzi—whose previous collaborations with director Josh Safdie include Good Time and Uncut Gems—and her team had to outfit thousands of performers, including Timothée Chalamet (who plays Marty) and Gwyneth Paltrow, portraying people across multiple worlds: international table tennis teams, period-accurate crowds in Japan, attendees of black-tie uptown soirees, and those on the bustling streets of the Lower East Side. Gwyneth PaltrowCourtesy of A24. On a call from Paris ahead of a screening with Safdie, Bellizzi shares that she’s eager to see how international audiences respond to the film. “It’s not out here [yet], or in Italy, which I find surprising,” she says. “Everyone that I’ve spoken to is looking forward to it. …
