The news comes weeks after the 49-year-old only son of Cher and the late Allman Brothers founder Gregg Allman was arrested twice in the space of three days. Days after his initial arrest for allegedly causing a disturbance at a private school with which he had no affiliation, Allman was arrested again in Windham, New Hampshire, after he allegedly broke into a home. Cher previously filed a conservatorship in December 2023, arguing at the time that Allman could not take care of himself or “manage his own financial resources” because of alleged issues with drug abuse. Allman responded to that filing by insisting he had been “clean and sober from illicit substances for over 90 days” and Cher withdrew legal proceedings. However, following the recent arrests Cher has …

Cher has previously sought conservatorship of her son, claiming in December 2023 that he was “substantially unable to manage his own financial resources due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues.” She later withdrew the application she had filed after they reached a private agreement. Grammys Producer Lifts The Lid On Cher’s Chaotic On-Stage Moments

Grammys producer Ben Winston is lifting the lid on one of the most memorable moments from this year’s awards show, which took place when Cher made her way onto the stage. Towards the end of Sunday night’s ceremony, Cher delivered an impromptu speech after being presented with a lifetime achievement award. She then told the audience that she figured she was “supposed to walk off now”, with host Trevor Noah having to step in to remind her she was also announcing the recipient of Record Of The Year. Following some confusion over whether the winner was being revealed in an envelope or the teleprompter, Cher enthusiastically declared that the award going to was “Luther Vandross” (or, indeed, “Luther Grandross”) rather than the actual recipients, Kendrick Lamar and SZA for their collab Luther. Speaking to Rolling Stone after Sunday’s show, Winston recalled telling Trevor Noah in his earpiece: “You’ve just gotta get up and bring her back.” Winston then insisted: “I promise you, we had briefed her, and I promise you, what she had to do …

Chaka Khan, Cher, Whitney Houston, Fela Kuti Get Grammys Life Achievement Awards

“Music has been my prayer, my healing, my joy, my truth,” Khan said as she accepted the award. “Through it, I saved my life.” She was the only Lifetime Achievement recipient who appeared at the ceremony at the small Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on the eve of Sunday’s main Grammys ceremony. She was preceded by a short documentary on her career that highlighted her hits as a member of the funk band Rufus and as a solo artist, including 1974’s Stevie Wonder-written “Tell Me Something Good,” 1983’s “Ain’t Nobody,” 1978’s “I’m Every Woman” and 1984’s Prince-penned “I Feel For You.” Wearing a shimmering sea green gown, she thanked her many collaborators while admitting not all of them were entirely sane. “Over 50 years I am blessed to walk alongside extraordinary artists, musicians, writers, producers and creatives,” she said, pausing before adding, “and cuckoos.” Family accepted the Lifetime Achievement Awards for the Nigerian Afrobeat legend Kuti, who died in 1997, and the singing superstar Houston, who died in 2012. “Her voice — that voice! …
