Meet Christine Marie, the Hero of Netflix’s Trust Me The False Prophet

Meet Christine Marie, the Hero of Netflix’s Trust Me The False Prophet

Jesus Christ (of Latter-Day Saints), there are some terrible things (still) going on within the FLDS community. Netflix‘s Trust Me: The False Prophet (2026) is a four-part documentary series that captured the rise of Samuel Bateman, the self-proclaimed heir to convicted child abuser Warren Jeffs’ Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). If you thought Jeffs was a bad guy, well, you’re right, but cult expert and sexual abuse survivor Dr. Christine Marie tells The Hollywood Reporter her friends inside the community say Bateman was even worse. A decade before Rachel Dretzin‘s 2022 Netflix docuseries Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey, which chronicled Jeffs’ crimes against children, arrest and life-plus-20-years sentencing, Marie, who has a PhD in psychology and a specialty in media psychology, and her videographer husband Tolga Katas moved to the tiny community of Short Creek, Utah, to help. They ended up helping more than they ever could have imagined. Over several years there, the couple went undercover, kind of, to infiltrate Bateman’s cult and expose his despicable behavior. After gaining Bateman’s …

Christine Baranski to Make West End Debut in ‘Hay Fever’

Christine Baranski to Make West End Debut in ‘Hay Fever’

U.S. actress Christine Baranski will make her West End debut alongside Richard E. Grant in a new production of Noël Coward’s Hay Fever. The family comedy, directed by Emily Burns, also marks Saltburn star Grant’s return to the West End stage after 20 years. It’ll run at the Wyndham Theatre from September to December this year, with two-time Tony winner Baranski playing Judith Bliss and Grant as David Bliss. “Last year, Judith retired from her life on stage. Already, she misses the applause,” reads a plot synopsis. “Idling away at their country home, the rest of the family — reclusive novelist husband David and failure-to-launch children Sorrel and Simon — are too self-involved to be a good audience. So, Judith invites a young fan as her guest for the weekend. But unbeknownst to her, each of the Blisses have a guest of their own arriving at the very same time. Completely unsuited to hosting and allergic to compromise, the house quickly erupts into a chaos of parlor games, put-downs, and unrequested encores.” Baranski, best known …

How to get tickets to Christine Baranski’s West End debut this autumn

A momentous occasion on two fronts: Mamma Mia! actress Christine Baranski is set to make her West End debut this autumn while Richard E. Grant returns to the London stage for the first time in 20 years. Both actors are set to star in a limited run of Noël Coward’s Hay Fever, otherwise known as A Comedy of Bad Manners. The pair will play Judith and David Bliss in the show which follows the retirement years of a former actress and reclusive novelist who invite a number of inappropriate guests to their home. As the synopsis reads: “It’s LOATHESOME being looked after. Last year, Judith retired from her life-on-stage. Already, she misses the applause. Idling away at their country home, the rest of the family – reclusive novelist husband David and failure-to-launch children Sorrel and Simon – are too self-involved to be a good audience. “So, Judith invites a young fan as her guest for the weekend. People In Midlife Say These 3 Tiny Habits Helped Them Finally Stop Being So Hard On Themselves | Christine Arylo

You know how to be a good friend and you give others the kind of grace you would never think twice about offering. But turn that same love toward yourself and something shifts. Suddenly it feels selfish, uncomfortable, or just wrong.  The truth is, being a good friend to yourself is not selfish at all. The more you fill yourself up, the more you actually have to give. And one of the biggest reasons people in midlife say they struggled for so long is simple: they never learned how to give themselves permission to do what they actually needed.  The next time you feel overwhelmed, depleted, or just off, try asking yourself these three questions honestly. If the answer to any of them is no, here is what to do about it. People in midlife say these 3 tiny habits helped them finally stop being so hard on themselves: 1. They started asking themselves, “Am I actually happy right now?” One tiny habit people in midlife say changed everything was simply pausing to ask themselves …

Christine Lagarde says she will see out her term as ECB chief – POLITICO

Christine Lagarde said her “baseline” is that she will stay at the European Central Bank until her term as president ends in October 2027. “I think that we have accomplished a lot, that I have accomplished a lot,” she said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, published on Friday. “We need to consolidate and make sure that this is really solid and reliable. So my baseline is that it will take until the end of my term.” Her comments come two days after a report in the FT, sourced to a single person “familiar with her thinking,” suggested the opposite. The article triggered controversy, implying that the appointment of the next ECB president could be moved up to deny a possible far-right president in France any say in the matter. President Emmanuel Macron is due to step down in April next year. Source link

Christine Lagarde may leave European Central Bank before end of term

Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, attended the final day of the Munich Security Conference, in Munich, Germany, on February 15, 2026. LIESA JOHANNSSEN/REUTERS European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde appears to be preparing for an early departure before her term ends in October 2027. Responding to reports from Bloomberg on Monday, February 16, and then from the Financial Times on Wednesday, February 18, the ECB released a statement leaving the possibility open: “President Lagarde is totally focused on her mission and has not taken any decision regarding the end of her term.” In June 2025, when initial rumors suggested she might be leaving to take over as president of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the Frenchwoman said she was “determined to complete” her term in office. That no longer appears to be the case. If Lagarde were to step down before the French presidential election in spring 2027, it would give Emmanuel Macron a say in who becomes the next ECB president. Most importantly, it would prevent a potential …
