The BAFTA Games Awards 2026 have awarded Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as Best Game in its star-studded awards ceremony on 17 April 2026. It was a mixed night for the pre-show favourite (which had 12 nominations) but it won Best Game, Best Debut Game and Best Performer in a Leading Role. There were 42 games in the running, across 17 categories, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is lead the pack with a whopping 12 nominations. Indie darling Dispatch received nine nominations, with Ghost of Yōtei hot on its heels with eight, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach just behind with seven, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle getting six and ARC Raiders in the running for five. Rich Keeble, the actor who plays Monoco in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is the latest guest in our Arcade Hang interview series. And in the chat, he reveals that his co-star Ben Starr was staggeringly incorrect in predicting how well the game’s launch would go down. The 22nd Bafta games awards are coming up in April, and the 2026 nominations list is dominated by the impeccably stylish French breakout hit Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 which has 12 nominations, and has already won game of the year prizes at the UK’s Golden Joysticks last November, December’s Game awards in the US and February’s Dice awards in Las Vegas. Dispatch, a game about a benched superhero roped into running a team of superpowered misfits at a call centre, has nine nominations. Among them is a best performer in a leading role nod for its star Aaron Paul, and one for Jeffrey Wright in a supporting role. Sony’s samurai epic Ghost of Yōtei came out with eight nominations, including best game and best performer in a leading role for Erika Ishii, who plays Atsu. On Thursday afternoon, Ashley St. Clair, the mother of one of Elon Musk’s 14 publicly known children, filed a lawsuit in New York against his company xAI, claiming that Grok, the company’s AI chatbot, produced sexually explicit images of her at users’ request. The writer and political strategist has been locked in a flurry of back-and-forth legal disputes with Musk since last February, when she announced publicly that she had given birth to his son Romulus in September 2024. St. Clair alleges that X users found photos of her as a 14-year-old and requested that Grok undress her and put her in a bikini, as well as generate a variety of graphic deepfake content that included images of her “kneeling on the floor in a sex pose” and sporting a tattoo that read “Elon’s whore.” “In one image, St. Clair, who is Jewish, is stripped and put in a string bikini covered with swastikas,” the complaint reads. I am remaking myself, quite literally. I’m getting rid of toxic red blood cells and making clean new ones. Each week I go to an NHS clinic at my local hospital in North London, where a pair of friendly and efficient nurses (trained in the Philippines) relieve me of a pint of blood. It takes about fifteen minutes for it to pour through a needle inserted into the vein in the crook of my left elbow, into a bag balanced on a set of souped-up bathroom scales on the floor under my chair, while one of the nurses keeps a weather eye on the digital display. Then she uncouples the line and throws the bag into a big yellow bin. My job is to make more blood, for next week. I’m halfway through a ten-week cycle—ten weeks, ten pints.
