Now, the news has also been shared that he will be producing a reboot of another sci-fi classic franchise: Animorphs. Animorphs, the sci-fi YA series with the greatest, most cursed book covers ever, is headed to Disney+. As reported by Variety, the streamer is developing an Animorphs TV show. Bayan Wolcott (The Testaments, The Summer I Turned Pretty) is set to write and executive produce the series, and Oscar winner Ryan Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Zinzi Coogler are executive producing through Proximity Media. Sinners director Ryan Coogler developing new adaptation of best-selling book series that previously inspired cult TV show

Ryan Coogler is lining up his next major TV project, with a new adaptation of the hugely popular Animorphs novels in early development at Disney+. The acclaimed filmmaker – fresh from Oscar success for Sinners – will executive produce the series, with writer Bayan Wolcott attached to pen the project, Variety reports. Based on the best-selling book series by Katherine Applegate and Michael Grant, Animorphs follows a group of teenagers who discover a secret alien invasion and gain the ability to morph into animals in order to fight back. The series blends sci-fi action with coming-of-age drama, as the characters balance high school life with a covert war for Earth’s survival. First published in 1996, the franchise became a global phenomenon, spanning 54 main books and selling more than 35 million copies worldwide. Ryan Coogler reveals original Black Panther 2 script details, including T’Challa and his son

With Black Panther 3 having been officially confirmed last year, fans of the Marvel film are on tenterhooks to see just what Ryan Coogler has up his sleeve this time around. The second film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, saw T’Challa’s sister Shuri (Letitia Wright) take the lead as the titular character after the sad passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020 from colon cancer. The 2018 original film was a major global hit, with writer and director Coogler having had plans for Boseman’s leading role in the second instalment. Coogler was firmly in the development stage of the second film when Boseman died in 2020, leading to Coogler to completely change the direction of the film.
