Dr. Pimple Popper Sandra Lee’s first symptom she couldn’t believe led to stroke diagnosis

Sandra Lee, who is better known as Dr. Pimple Popper, just opened up about the stroke she suffered while filming her show last November. For the first time, the 55-year-old board certified dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon shared what led up to her stroke. While filming her hit show, Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out, started sweating and felt off, which just happened to be the first symptoms of her stroke. “It happened while I was filming the show,” Sandra told People. “I had what I thought was a hot flash. I got super sweaty and didn’t feel like myself.” © Getty ImagesSandra is worth some $5 million through her dermatology Inside the day of Sandra’s stroke The dermatologist wrapped, went to her parents’ house, and continued feeling sick. “I just felt very restless,” she explained. “In one leg I kept feeling shooting pains,” adding: “I noticed that I was having a tough time walking down the stairs.” Sandra decided to go to bed, hoping that a good night’s sleep would make her feel better. But, …

The 36-year-old writes and stars in Half Man – a miniseries that follows meek teenager Niall (Jamie Bell) as he’s forced to live with his volatile but fiercely loyal stepbrother Ruben (Gadd). While the pair are inseparable in their youth, it’s a different story decades on when an older Ruben gatecrashes a horrified Niall’s wedding day. Speaking about the new drama, Gadd revealed at a screening for Half Man that he came up with the idea before writing Baby Reindeer – the critically-acclaimed 2024 thriller based on Gadd’s real-life experience with a stalker. “I had the idea quite a long time ago. I wrote one …

Doctor Who icon Christopher Eccleston has recalled the TV moment which had an impact that he couldn’t have imagined

Doctor Who icon Christopher Eccleston has recalled how an iconic moment from ITV crime drama Cracker came about. The 1990s drama, which was created and written by Jimmy McGovern and followed a team working for Greater Manchester Police as they tried to solve crimes, starred Eccleston as DCI David Bilborough. Bilborough was eventually murdered by Albie Kinsella (Robert Carlyle), leading to a landmark moment in British TV as the character bled out while giving a “statement of a dying man” over his radio. Speaking to Radio Times magazine about his new Netflix drama Unchosen, the actor was asked about his departure from Cracker. He explained: “They wanted me to sign for three series but I said I’d sign for one, see how it went. When it went well, I said I’d go back, but I wasn’t going to hang around and support Robbie Coltrane, bless him, for three series.” He continued: “That handed Jimmy [McGovern, who wrote it] a provocation. Nowadays, major characters are killed off constantly, but it had never been done before he …

9 Things a Woman Couldn’t Do in 1971

9 Things a Woman Couldn’t Do in 1971

More than a century after women’s suffrage in the United States, it’s not enough to bone up on the platforms of female primary candidates (though that’s an excellent start). A Twitter user and self-described Old Crone named Robyn urged her fellow Americans to take a good long gander at a list of nine freedoms that women in the United States were not universally granted in 1971, the year Helen Reddy released the soon-to-be anthem, “I Am Woman,” above. Even those of us who remember singing along as children may experience some shock that these facts check out on Snopes. CREDIT CARDS: Prior to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974, married women couldn’t get credit cards without their husbands’ signatures. Single women, divorcees, and widows were often required to have a man co-sign. The double standard also meant female applicants were frequently issued card limits up to 50% lower than that of males who earned identical wages. PREGNANT WORKERS: The Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978 protected pregnant women from being fired because of their impending maternity. But it came with a major …

I Haven’t Looked At My Aging Face The Same Since Seeing Something I Couldn’t Unsee | Sue Johnson

I Haven’t Looked At My Aging Face The Same Since Seeing Something I Couldn’t Unsee | Sue Johnson

At the end of the summer, sitting in my favorite coffee shop in Toronto’s trendy Yorkville, I suddenly found myself mesmerized by the faces of the women in front of me. They were so perfect. Not one flaw, bump, wrinkle. Their makeup was also perfect. Their eyelashes are long enough to sweep the floor with, their lips botoxed out into space. I found myself wondering, how many hours a day does it take to look like that?  I haven’t looked at my aging face the same since seeing something I couldn’t see: how alike everyone looks now Frank Flores / Unsplash+ But I suddenly felt sad. I remembered some of the words from my own book — about how Botox freezes our faces so that we cannot communicate properly with others through our facial expressions or even pick up the emotional cues outlined in others’ faces by imitating their message and feeling it in our bodies. And it is not just theory. Research on facial expression and emotional attunement shows that when we reduce our …

I couldn’t fix my laptop’s fan noise, so I did the next best thing

I couldn’t fix my laptop’s fan noise, so I did the next best thing

My poor (potentially perforated) eardrums. I’ve been putting my lugs under a tremendous amount of strain since picking up the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2025). That’s because one of the world’s fastest gaming laptops not only runs incredibly hot, but equally loud, too. When you’re dealing with a super-skinny laptop that houses Nvidia’s mobile RTX 5080 GPU, a whole lot of heat and all the decibels are to be expected — for reasons I’ll soon explain. It was only after I paired my lovely OLED laptop with a crucial audio accessory that I could start enjoying my Steam library without the constant din of fan noise ruining my virtual experiences. Let me get into it. Why are gaming laptops so noisy? Portable power at a deafening cost Credit: Dave Meikleham \ MakeUseOf The above question is multi-faceted, but generally pretty easy to answer. The primary reason gaming laptops make your eardrums want to implode? Because they’re attempting to squeeze desktop performance into a much, much smaller form factor. Just compare the dimensions of my RTX 5080 …

‘I couldn’t see, breathe or sing. I blacked out twice’: why are so many metal bands wearing masks? | Metal

‘I couldn’t see, breathe or sing. I blacked out twice’: why are so many metal bands wearing masks? | Metal

When US avant garde metal band Imperial Triumphant decided that their image needed a shake-up in 2015, they considered putting on corpse paint, the ghastly makeup popularised by 90s black metal. But, their singer/guitarist Zachary Ezrin says, they then realised how much effort it would take – and how uncool the post-gig rituals would feel: “You just rocked a show, and now you have to sit backstage and wipe off your makeup.” (Perish the thought of being the average female pop star.) They instead chose to wear striking gold masks modelled after 1920s art deco architecture, though these brought their own problems when they got lost in transit. “We had to do one show where Steve [Blanco, bass] was wearing a new mask that we put together from parts. We went to some Hungarian costume shop and just started grabbing stuff and piecing it together.” Or as Alpha, the masked and nameless frontman of Portuguese black metal band Gaerea says, “When you start to sweat, you can’t see shit, or breathe, or sing” if you’re …

I used an $80 monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate for a week – and couldn’t believe my eyes

MSI Pro MP243W 24-inch monitor pros and cons Pros Incredibly affordable Lightweight, plug-and-play Thin bezels, compact frame 144Hz, adaptive-sync Cons Visual quality for everyday use 300 nits of brightness Built-in speakers are an afterthought more buying choices Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. As high-end monitors reach for the stars with QD-OLED technology and 1,040Hz refresh rates, products on the opposite end of the spectrum can offer better baseline value for less than a hundred bucks.  Case in point: MSI’s Pro MP243W, a 24-inch monitor for just $84. Budget monitors in 2026 look a whole lot better than they did a few years ago, and after going hands-on with this one, I found it to be a good value for students, kids, and budget-conscious users who use their computers for everyday tasks.  Also: A week with this Samsung smart monitor convinced me I might be done with TVs That said, there are certainly trade-offs with lower-end monitors, and they won’t come as a surprise: less flexibility, less connectivity, and, most importantly, a less vibrant …

Pam Bondi Couldn’t Possibly Succeed

Pam Bondi Couldn’t Possibly Succeed

Pam Bondi’s 421 days as attorney general of the United States came to an end in the only way they could have: with her being fired ignominiously via a social-media post. Donald Trump announced that Bondi, though a “Great American Patriot and a loyal friend,” will be “transitioning to a much needed and important new job” that, despite its great importance, remains a secret. Also, her new job will be in the private sector, which makes it a strange thing for a president to be determining—or at least this would be strange if the administration still observed traditional boundaries between public and private, which it does not. The attorney-general position under Trump has become a short-term gig not unlike the drummer in This Is Spinal Tap. Back in 2017, Trump chose his first nominee, Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama, specifically for his loyalty—Sessions was the first senator to endorse his campaign. But Sessions disappointed his boss by recusing himself from the Russia investigation and generally following department procedure, leading to his termination. From the March …

I Couldn’t Figure Out Why I Felt So Lonely — Until I Realized Sometimes There Isn’t A Reason

I Couldn’t Figure Out Why I Felt So Lonely — Until I Realized Sometimes There Isn’t A Reason

I will be the first one to acknowledge that I know how blessed and fortunate I am for the life I have. I have great health. Moreover, I have a tight group of family and friends who love and value me. I have a career I’m proud of. I have character traits most would wish they could have. And I know I’m loved.  But having all of these things doesn’t stop me from feeling alone. I couldn’t figure out why I felt so lonely until I realized sometimes there isn’t a reason. I can’t always describe why I feel alone or what causes this sudden wave to crash over me. I could be having the best day ever, full of laughter and fulfillment, and then the moment I crawl into my dark bedroom, I feel instantly depressed and can’t control the weird feeling inside my chest. What’s more, I’ve learned that I need to leave my house at least once a day, just so I don’t feel depressed. Even when my anxiety has me confined to my bedroom, I know …
