Trump And Iran Declare Strait Of Hormuz Open

Trump And Iran Declare Strait Of Hormuz Open

Donald Trump has declared the Strait of Hormuz open almost two months after he started a war with Iran. Writing entirely in capital letters, the US president triumphantly declared on TruthSocial that “THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ IS COMPLETELY OPEN AND READY FOR BUSINESS AND FULL PASSAGE”. However, he insisted that the US blockade will remain “IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT” for Iran for the time being, until the US’s “TRANSACTION WITH IRAN IS 100% COMPLETE”. He claimed that this process should “go very quickly” with many of their “points” already negotiated. Iran chose to effectively close the major shipping lane after the US and Israel bombed the Middle Eastern country at the end of February. That sparked global economic turmoil as the oil sector slowed down, meaning prices around the world increased amid the supply issues. In frustration – and without any support from his allies – Trump decided to send US ships to the waterway to implement his own blockade on Iranian ships and ports. His celebratory social media post comes after Iran’s foreign …

Discovery. Their collective stance was articulated in an open letter published on Monday, signalling widespread concern across the industry. A significant contingent of the film world, featuring luminaries such as Denis Villeneuve, Kristen Stewart, JJ Abrams, and Joaquin Phoenix, has forcefully spoken out against the £87 billion deal. They argue that the consolidation of two legacy studios would inevitably lead to further job losses and a reduction in film production within an already contracting Hollywood landscape. The letter, posted on BlocktheMerger.com, states: “The result will be fewer opportunities for creators, fewer jobs across the production ecosystem, higher costs, and less choice for audiences in the United States and around the world. Alarmingly, …

“Won’t be able to stop us”: Democrats, GOP both declare victory as DHS funding deal moves forward

“Won’t be able to stop us”: Democrats, GOP both declare victory as DHS funding deal moves forward

Republican leaders in Congress said on Wednesday the eight-week-long partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security would soon come at an end. Democratic lawmakers had forced the shutdown, which stymied air travel after the Transportation Security Administration ran out of payroll funds, over appropriations that would have funded Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. GOP leaders in both chambers shared that they would pass a bill without appropriations for the agencies carrying out President Donald Trump‘s mass deportation scheme. before pushing a separate bill to fund ICE and CBP. “In the coming days, Republicans in the Senate and House will be following through on the President’s directive by fully funding the entire Department of Homeland Security on two parallel tracks: through the appropriations process and through the reconciliation process,” Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., and Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., shared in a statement. Trump agreed that the shutdown-ending deal was merely the first step toward getting everything on the Republican agenda. “We are going forward to fund our incredible ICE …

Apple Requires App Developers to Declare Regulated Medical Device Status in EEA, UK, and U.S.

App Store product pages will now display whether an app is a regulated medical device, Apple said today. The designation will be shown in the ‌App Store‌ in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and United States. According to Apple, regulated medical device apps may function on their own or as part of a system for medical purposes like diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, and treatment of diseases and physiological conditions. The apps may require registration or authorization from regulatory bodies like the Food and Drug Administration. App developers who distribute Health and Fitness or Medical apps in the EEA, UK, or U.S. will need to provide a regulated medical device status in ‌App Store‌ Connect, along with associated regulatory information. Apps that are marked as containing frequent references to medical or treatment information in the Age Rating questionnaire in ‌App Store‌ Connect will also need to provide the regulated medical device status. KLM flight forced to declare mid-air emergency | World | News

A KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight declared a mid-air emergency and landed some 478 miles north from where it was scheduled to arrive. The flight diverted to Paris during its journey from Amsterdam to Marseille on Friday morning after it triggered a Squawk 7700, the international aviation code for a general emergency – according to Air Live.  Issuing this signal allowed air traffic controllers to prioritise the plane for immediately landing, with flight maps on Flight Radar 24 showing it rapidly declining from cruising altitude before it reached Paris.  While the aircraft was due to land in Marseille at around 11.35am local time (10.35am GMT), it ended up touching down in the French capital at 11am local time.  Squawk 7700 alerts controllers to immediate distress – such as engine failure, fire, or medical issues – granting the flight priority handling, airspace clearance, and emergency services standby.  While it implies a possibly serious situation, it does not always indicate imminent danger. It’s often used to ensure the crew has maximum support to handle a developing issue …

Our world is entering an ‘era of global water bankruptcy’, UN scientists declare

Our world is entering an ‘era of global water bankruptcy’, UN scientists declare

For decades, we have heard many warnings about a global water crisis. However, a new UN-supported report states that these previous warnings do not capture the extent of the problem. Instead, the authors of this report state that the world has now moved from the crisis phase to a more severe phase called global water bankruptcy. Kaveh Madani is the lead author of the report entitled Global Water Bankruptcy: Living Beyond Our Hydrological Means in the Post-Crisis Era, which was produced by The City College of New York and the UN University’s Institute for Water, Environment and Health, which is often referred to as the UN’s “think tank” for water issues. This report drew its conclusions from peer-reviewed literature in the journal Water Resources Management, as well as from an extensive worldwide dataset. Most of the world’s population, around 75%, now lives in regions that are either insecure with respect to water supplies or are critically insecure. The report contends that the concept of water bankruptcy differs from temporary shortages in that it describes a …

DAN BASHAKOV / AP Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday, January 14, a “state of emergency” will be declared in the energy sector, after relentless Russian strikes on heat and electricity supplies during freezing winter temperatures. Oregon QB Dante Moore Says He’ll Return to the Ducks Rather Than Declare for the NFL Draft

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore has decided to return to the Ducks next season rather than declare for the NFL draft. Moore, 20, announced his decision on Wednesday on ESPN. “When it comes to me just making my decision, of course I want to feel most prepared and do what’s best for my situation, especially as a quarterback,” he said. “And with my decision, it’s been very tough. I prayed a lot about it, talked to many people, my mentors, and people I just look up to, and with that being said, of course I’ll be coming back to Oregon for one more year, being able to play for the Oregon Ducks and reach our goal and be national champions.” This season, Moore completed nearly 72% of his throws for 3, 565 yards, with 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Oregon finished 13-2. Moore had been forecast to be the second quarterback selected in the NFL draft, behind Indiana quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza. The Ducks were coming off a 56-22 loss to Indiana in …
