Iranians brace for possible devastation as Trump’s deadline looms | US-Israel war on Iran News

Tehran, Iran – United States President Donald Trump says daily life could be different for more than 90 million Iranians on Wednesday, after his deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz expires. Trump says that Iran’s electricity, bridges, and other critical infrastructure will be bombed if it does not open the vital waterway, despite the deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure being a violation of international law. Can a social app fix the ‘terrible devastation’ of social media?

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone and Pinterest co-founder Evan Sharp have raised new funding for their social media startup West Co. The startup launched an invite-only version of its first app, Tangle, in November. Now the Financial Times has pieced together more details from comments made by Stone and Sharp, as well as from regulatory filings and job listings. JORGE UZON/AFP via Getty Images Rejoice, for the year of 2025 is finally over. During our planet’s latest and seemingly interminable revolution around the Sun, the tech industry’s obsession with AI soared to ever more implausible heights. CEOs began openly gloating about replacing their underlings with AI “agents.” The phenomenon of so-called AI psychosis became a national news story as more people were seemingly driven over the edge by their silver-tongued chatbot companions. “Slop” took on a new meaning. And the word “circular” suddenly started being used a whole lot in the same sentence as “billions of dollars” or even “hundreds of billions of dollars.”  Will 2026 finally deliver us from this endless cavalcade of large language model madness? Not likely, according to computer scientist and “godfather” of AI Geoffrey Hinton. AI will only continue to improve next year, he predicts, reaching a point where it will liberate us from all our horrible low-paying jobs. “I think we’re going to see AI get even better,” Hinton said during an interview on CNN’s State of the …
