Commentary: After first quarterly dip in nearly seven years, where are HDB resale prices headed?

Commentary: After first quarterly dip in nearly seven years, where are HDB resale prices headed?

But uncertainty could also push more private home owners to right size, particularly as they approach retirement. This would add to the demand for larger HDB flats, particularly those in more desirable locations. This was what we observed with the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022, which saw a very small but growing number of HDB resale flats fetching at least S$1 million (US$787,340) and strong price growth for larger flats in non-mature towns such as Sembawang and Woodlands. That same year also saw the introduction of a 15-month wait-out period for former and current owners of private homes seeking to buy public housing flats. The restriction was aimed at cooling the HDB resale market for higher-priced flats, which was heating up partly due to demand from private property downgraders flush with capital. This underscored how periods of uncertainty can have implications for housing demand, especially as HDB flats are often seen as a more affordable option. WHAT IT MEANS FOR BUYERS AND SELLERS Despite heightened uncertainty and expectations of higher inflation, the HDB resale market is …

Whipped beetroot dip with radishes recipe

Whipped beetroot dip with radishes recipe

Beetroot makes a great, colourful dip, but with this method you can use any root vegetable, from carrot to squash, and even spice things up with a little chilli or ginger if you wish. Try it topped with toasted chopped walnuts, or a sprinkle of the Egyptian spice and nut blend dukkah, too. I’ve served this with simple new-season radishes but you could use any vegetable crudités or flatbread. Requires cooling time Source link

Lucid blames dip in Q1 sales on seat supplier issue

Lucid blames dip in Q1 sales on seat supplier issue

Lucid Group finished 2025 on an upswing — building twice as many EVs as the previous year and reporting a 55% uptick in sales. Then the first quarter of 2026 arrived. The company, which makes the Air sedan and Gravity SUV, reported Friday that it sold 3,093 vehicles in the first quarter, a 42% drop from the previous quarter and about 0.5% lower than the same period last year. It had built many more, about 5,500 in total. Lucid said the sales dip, and the gap between production and deliveries, is not a demand problem. Instead, the company blames a supplier quality issue with its second-row seats, which disrupted deliveries of the Lucid Gravity for 29 days. The supplier issue also prompted Lucid to recall more than 4,000 Gravity SUVs. Lucid told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it discovered some of the anchors for the SUV’s second-row seat belts were not properly welded. Lucid spokesperson Nick Twork confirmed to TechCrunch that the decrease in sales was tied to problems with the supplier. He …

A 10% Dip Is Not A Green Light To Go All In

A 10% Dip Is Not A Green Light To Go All In

Submitted by QTR’s Fringe Finance This is the kind of environment where how you deploy capital matters far more than just being “in the market.” One lesson I’d repeat to myself here: don’t go throwing all your cash into the market just because we’re down 10% from the highs. That kind of thinking assumes the decline is basically over, when there’s no rule that says it is. In fact, a 10% decline is just considered a correction, not a bottom, and according to historical market data by firms Fidelity, a meaningful share of corrections go on to become deeper bear markets. The biggest mistake you can make here is treating this level like a clearance sale instead of what it actually is: a potentially ongoing drawdown. And just because I recently put out a list of stocks I’m watching on further plunges does not mean I think we’re anywhere near a floor. If anything, it means the opposite. I’m preparing for lower prices, not declaring victory. There’s a huge difference between identifying names you’d like to own if …

Europe surges, US stumbles, China cools: EV sales dip in 2026

Europe surges, US stumbles, China cools: EV sales dip in 2026

The new MG4 EV Urban (left) and 2026 MG4 EV (Source: MG Motor) 1.2 million EVs were sold globally in January – but the market shrank. Global EV sales fell 3% year-over-year and 44% in January 2026 from December to 1.2 million units, according to Benchmark Mineral Intelligence. The slowdown was largely driven by China, where sales dropped after new taxes and weaker incentives kicked in. China cools after tax and subsidy changes China, the world’s largest EV market, sold around 600,000 EVs in January. That’s down 20% year-over-year and 55% compared to December. Given China’s outsized role in the global market, that drop is the main reason worldwide sales were down. Two policy changes kicked in at the start of 2026: EVs are now subject to a purchase tax for the first time since 2014, and the country’s trade-in scheme is less generous than it was in 2025. While EVs in China aren’t yet facing the full 10% purchase tax that applies to gas cars, most are now subject to a 5% purchase tax. At …

DMGT reports revenue dip as Google changes hit traffic for Mail publisher

The logo of the Daily Mail is displayed on a smartphone screen. Picture: Bangla press/Shutterstock Digital advertising revenue at the publisher of the Daily Mail fell by 15% last year. Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT) blamed the impact of Google’s AI Overviews on traffic to its websites in its financial results for the year to 30 September 2025. DMGT also publishes the Mail on Sunday, Metro, The i Paper and the New Scientist. Overall consumer media revenue at DMGT was down 2% overall year on year to £600m. It has declined 9% in the past three years. Lord Rothermere took DMGT into private ownership at the start of 2022. Since then consumer media revenue has declined every year – although it continues to make up 55% of group revenue. Digital advertising was down 15% to £148.3m last year, making up a quarter of consumer media revenue. Website traffic was “adversely affected by the introduction of AI overviews by search engine providers, resulting in fewer users clicking through to news websites”, DMGT said. In December …
