Instagram today implemented a small but useful change, allowing Instagram users to edit their comments for up to 15 minutes after writing the initial comment. The Meta-owned social media site has long supported editing an Instagram post, but comments have never been able to be updated to correct typos. Editing a comment can be done by tapping on the new “Edit” option that is displayed after a comment is posted. Comments on Instagram that have been edited will be marked with a gray edited tag, but Instagram does not allow users to see the original comment. When technology reporter Alex Heath has a scoop, he sits down at his computer and speaks into a microphone. Heath sat down with me last week to showcase how he’s integrated Anthropic’s Claude Cowork into his journalistic process. He is suing over a 2024 Panorama episode that edited together clips of him addressing supporters on the day of the 2021 attack on the Capitol in Washington DC. The BBC will take steps to have Donald Trump’s lawsuit over a January 6 Panorama edit thrown out, court documents show. The US president filed a defamation lawsuit over the broadcaster’s editing of a speech he made in 2021, on the day his supporters stormed the Capitol building. Clips were spliced together from sections of the US president’s speech to show him saying: “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol… and I’ll be there with you. And we fight. We fight like hell.” It aired in the near-hour-long documentary Trump: A Second Chance?, which was broadcast by the BBC the week before the US election.
