How your brain builds and edits your identity

How your brain builds and edits your identity

Knowing that our perception is an illusion, our sense of self is illusion. All of it is illusion in the sense that it’s a construct of our brain, our brain is creating this for us. And given that, that’s an opportunity because we can have some control over how our brain perceives the world, and that’s where the power lies. Our perceptions are basically formed from a combination of what we expect, so that’s coming internally from our past experiences. And then what’s coming into our brain externally. Vanity Fair Edits Chloe Fineman Clip About Pantsing 6-Year-Old Boy

A Vanity Fair clip featuring the cast of Saturday Night Live has gone viral after it was edited to remove specific details and some awkward cast reactions to Chloe Fineman’s shocking tale of being fired as a camp counselor in her youth. Vanity Fair’s video features Fineman alongside Mikey Day, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla, Jane Wickline and James Austin Johnson as they test one another in an episode of the mag’s game show series, this one titled “SNL Cast Test How Well They Know Each Other.” One segment finds Fineman polling her colleagues to guess the job she got fired from and later rehired by with a bonus question of “Why was I fired?” Day jokes it was for “racially insensitive comments” while Sherman guesses that Fineman was sacked from a restaurant for a bad attitude. Padilla asks how old she was at the time, and Fineman offers that she was 16. Then she tells the tale. “I was fired as a camp counselor,” Fineman says. “I pantsed a boy. He would lift my shirt …

Erin LeCount on Pareidolia, New Single Alice and Heated Rivalry Edits

Rising pop singer Erin LeCount says she’s always expressed herself best through music. The British performer — who released her latest EP Pareidolia Feb. 27 — says she fell in love with music at a young age thanks to a teacher who sparked her interest. She was eventually scouted for The Voice Kids in the U.K., finishing as a runner-up in season 1 after making it to the finale. “I had no idea what I was doing,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter on a Zoom, recalling the imposter syndrome she felt going into the program with no formal training. By 17, she found musical production and “totally fell in love.” Now, at 23, LeCount is finding her stride, having just wrapped her first U.S. tour. She showed off a commanding stage presence during a pair of Valentine’s Day weekend shows at the Roxy in West Hollywood. Dressed in etherial white to match her long white blond hair, she directs the audience to belt out a note so she can record it. LeCount — who produces …
