It’s difficult to find much information about Daniel Micay online. Google him and you’ll turn up an impersonal X account and a barren LinkedIn page, plus some YouTube “exposés” and flame wars on Reddit and HackerNews that characterize him as everything from a privacy advocate to a cybersecurity visionary to a despot. Meanwhile, Claude refers to him as a “formidable independent mobile security researcher” who is “widely described as socially abrasive” (for whatever that’s worth). “All I can tell you about Daniel is that he lives in Canada,” says Dave Wilson, the community manager of GrapheneOS, a world-famous privacy tool and Micay’s current project. Within the cybersecurity community, the mythology surrounding Micay goes beyond celebrity. He could be a ghost or a kind of egregore, like Satoshi Nakamoto or Ned Ludd. The 137 Venezuelans the ruling applies to were deported to the notorious Center for Terrorism Confinement, or CECOT, in the Central American country, under the rarely-used Alien Enemies Act, despite an emergency ruling ordering the flight to be returned to the U.S. The men were later sent to their home countries as part of a prisoner exchange. U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg ruled the government must pay to fly back or accept at a US port of entry any of the men who are now in countries other than Venezuela. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Sunday condemned anti-Olympics protesters and the unknown perpetrators of railway sabotage that caused train delays, particularly on the line between Bologna and Venice. “Then you have them, the enemies of Italy and Italians, who demonstrate ‘against the Olympics,’ causing these images to be broadcast on television around the world. After others cut the railway cables to prevent trains from leaving,” Meloni wrote in a social media post that included FoxNews footage showing firecrackers and smoke bombs during anti-Olympics protests in Milan on Saturday. Hours after the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics were officially launched, suspected attacks damaged the Bologna-Venice railway line. On Saturday, Italy’s railway operator Ferrovie dello Stato reported “serious damage to railway infrastructure attributable to acts of sabotage.” One track switch was set on fire near Pesaro, while a few hours later cables were damaged, causing delays on Saturday morning, the operator said. If you want to build personal success, there is one thing that you really need. You need at least one enemy. One of the strangest truths that I have learned is that successful people always have enemies. Someone works against them, and opposes them and that is important to their success. This opposition produces several results:  The enemies make us stronger and more persistent, unless we give up and quit. Life is a struggle, and they teach us how to struggle forward.  The enemies talk about us and make us famous. There is an old political quote: “Say anything you want about me, but please say something.”  Opposition can teach us to search for friends and allies, to build a team of supporters.
