Seaside strolls, park picnics and weekend escapes become picture-perfect prints with the instax mini 12 from Currys

Hazy spring and summer days often pass by in a happy blur. You’ve packed up the picnic in the park, removed the sand from between your toes and – before you know it – the sun has set. Five of Europe’s best accessible island escapes | Europe holidays

Sylt, Germany Connected to the German mainland by a single rail causeway, Sylt is just over three hours from Hamburg by direct train. The largest of the North Frisian islands, it slices through the North Sea and the Wadden Sea, with salt marshes and mudflats to the east and 25 miles of white sands sweeping along the western coast, grassy dunes buffering the bracing winds. Relatively unknown to UK visitors, the island has long been a popular destination for Germans and appeals to an affluent crowd, although not exclusively. Luxury hotels and pioneering health resorts sit side by side with multistorey apartment blocks, modest campsites and laid-back surfing schools. Trains from Hamburg – soon to be upgraded with the new intercity (ICE L) fleet – arrive in Westerland, the largest town on the island, which expanded significantly during the 60s and 70s. Alternative bases include well-heeled Kampen or Keitum, the latter known for its maritime history and traditional thatched houses. Designated nature reserves cover other parts of the island, from the shifting dunes in List to the …

‘No cars, unspoilt beaches and seabirds rule’: readers’ favourite European island escapes | Travel

‘No cars, unspoilt beaches and seabirds rule’: readers’ favourite European island escapes | Travel

Visiting this Spanish archipelago is like winning the lottery A short ferry ride from Vigo (daily and overnight visitor numbers are capped) took us to the tiny archipelago of the Cíes Islands, a protected cluster of islands where seabirds rule and tiny beaches remain unspoilt. There are no cars on the island and only a few small restaurants dotted about. There is one campsite, with little else but the waves of the Atlantic to lull you to sleep. I felt as if I had won the lottery when we visited and knew this would be an experience not easily matched.Helen E Ischia in Italy is best by bus Ischia, in the Bay of Naples. Photograph: Alxpin/Getty Images Italy has brilliant public transport. We found it so easy to use the ferries and buses during our visit to Ischia in the Bay of Naples. The simple circular routes on the island mean there is almost zero chance of getting lost. You can buy a day ticket for a few euros, hopping on and off at your …

‘Violent’ prisoner due for deportation escapes custody for second time in a week | UK News

A “violent” prisoner with gang affiliations who is due for deportation is on the run for the second time in a week, Sky News understands.  Police are hunting for Daniel Boakye after he escaped from police custody in a hospital in Lewisham, south London. Boakye, 21, had been serving time at HMP Feltham for robbery charges. He is understood to be violent, has gang connections, and is due for deportation to Ghana. He had already gone missing after freeing himself from prison custody at West Middlesex University Hospital in the early hours of 10 February. The prison service said at the time they were “urgently” working with the Metropolitan Police, and were investigating how he was able to escape from hospital. Officers located him at an address in Thamesmead, southeast London, on Wednesday afternoon. On Sunday, Boakye again absconded from policy custody, this time at Lewisham Hospital, where he had been receiving medical treatment. Vanity Fair’s Limited Series ‘Fear Not’ Stars Anne Hathaway as a Faithful Mother Who Escapes a Serial Killer

Vanity Fair’s Limited Series ‘Fear Not’ Stars Anne Hathaway as a Faithful Mother Who Escapes a Serial Killer

In 2023, Vanity Fair told the story of Margy Palm, a mother of two who came face-to-face with a notorious serial killer and lived. In “Sympathy for the Devil,” Palm opened up to Julie Miller about her harrowing captivity at the hands of Stephen Morin—who was suspected of more than 30 murders—and how her patience and prayers kept him at bay long enough for her to figure out a daring escape. Now that acclaimed article is being adapted into a Paramount+ limited series starring Anne Hathaway as Palm, the survivor who formed a bond with the man who nearly ended her life. With Bash Doran (Outlaw King) as showrunner and Miller as a consulting producer, Fear Not will premiere in 2027. “By grounding this chilling true story in the lived experience of our protagonist, Anne is bringing a level of nuance and gravity to the screen that only a performer of her caliber can,” says Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+. “At Paramount+, we are always looking for stories that captivate and entertain our …
