It’s one thing to be hip-checked straight into the zeitgeist—it’s quite another to do so as a horological influencer. It seems like Connor Storrie, the 25-year-old breakout star of Heated Rivalry, has figured out how to do both. Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Storrie wore the IWC Portofino Complete Calendar, a large, contemporary take on a relatively little-seen complication. While annual and perpetual calendars are all the rage, “complete” (or “triple”) calendars are less common. Requiring manual adjustment at the end of each month, they’ve largely been superseded by their more sophisticated brethren. A handful of manufacturers still offer them, however, which is a welcome thing considering the eye-watering MSRPs of annual and perpetual calendars. The Portofino Complete Calendar—which is part of a dressy collection introduced by IWC in 1984—measures 41mm in 18K 5N yellow gold.
