Caleb McLaughlin Voices Vivid Animated Sports Fable

Caleb McLaughlin Voices Vivid Animated Sports Fable

In this era of sports celebrities being paid megabucks, it’s not surprising that a kid would want to become a star player. And by “kid,” I mean a young goat, of course. Sony Animation’s new effort concerns one such goat, Will, who aspires to play in the big leagues despite his small stature. (The title has an obvious double meaning.) Inspired by Stephen Curry’s struggle to succeed despite numerous obstacles — the basketball great serves as producer and has a small voice role — GOAT begins with a very young Will watching a game of roarball (a sort of everything-goes basketball, played by animals) and proclaiming to his mother (Jennifer Hudson) that it’s what he wants to do when he grows up. GOAT The Bottom Line Doesn’t live up to its title, but plenty of fun. Okay, I’m slightly less mad about that ‘Magnificent Ambersons’ AI project

Okay, I’m slightly less mad about that ‘Magnificent Ambersons’ AI project

When a startup announced plans last fall to recreate lost footage from Orson Welles’ classic film “The Magnificent Ambersons” using generative AI, I was skeptical. More than that, I was baffled why anyone would spend time and money on something that seemed guaranteed to outrage cinephiles while offering negligible commercial value. This week, an in-depth profile by the New Yorker’s Michael Schulman provides more details about the project. If nothing else, it helps explain why the startup Fable and its founder Edward Saatchi are pursuing it: It seems to come from a genuine love of Welles and his work. Saatchi (whose father was a founder of advertising firm Saatchi & Saatchi) recalled a childhood of watching films in a private screening room with his “movie mad” parents. He said he first saw “Ambersons” when he was twelve. The profile also explains why “Ambersons,” while much less famous than Welles’ first film “Citizen Kane,” remains so tantalizing — Welles himself claimed it was a “much better picture” than “Kane,” but after a disastrous preview screening, the …

It’s been 22 years since Fable first launched on the Xbox, and 16 since we got the most recent game in the series – Fable 3. But Fable is back, and after years of relative silence, we now are inching closer to its release. So, with more information than ever available, thanks to the Xbox Developer Direct, when does Fable release? Will it be on Game Pass? What about PS5?
